How did the fire start? New video shows the crucial last moments leading up to the ignition of the fatal Sandalwood wildfire, which were sparked when a garbage truck driver dumped a pile of burning trash on the side of a road on Thursday afternoon. Capturedโ€ฆ
After a deadly wildfire ripped through their community earlier this month, a Calimesa homeowner is suing a waste company whose truck dumped a load of burning trash on the side of the road that sparked the Sandalwood fire, Los Angeles Times reported. In a lawsuit filed this week, Bruce Maxwell, a resident at the Villa Calimesa Mobile Home Park alleges that CR&R Inc. put its own business interests ahead of public safety when one of its truck drivers dumped his load after it caught fire on Oct. 10. According to the suit, a passerby pleaded with the driver not to unload the smoldering trash because of strong winds that could easily spread a fire. The blaze ultimately burned more than 1,000 acres, destroying at least 76 homes and killing two women who lived in the park. ๐Ÿ”ฅ
As a result of hard work by all involved, all evacuation orders related to the #GettyFire are now lifted. We cannot thank the community enough for their patience during these past days. The #LAPD will maintain a presence in the area as you return home.๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ

NYPD officer involved in the massive brawl with teens on the subway ripped a baby boy from his mother's arms during her arrest as anti-cop protesters continue to protest police violence. Officer Shawndel Latham was among three officers named by the Brooklyn Defender Services as having been involved in the 'Jay Street incident of police brutality on October 25.' The legal defense organization said in their post that Latham's involvement was 'particularly troubling' adding that 'she was one of the officers who ripped the one-year-old child from the arms of Jazmine Headley.' Headley's story went viral last year when video of NYPD officers yanking her baby from her arms circulated late last year. According to the defender service, Headley was a client of theirs, and she has since sued the city for the arrest at the Dekalb Job Center. #NYPD #NY

Nearly a thousand protesters took to the streets of Brooklyn to demonstrate against the NYPD after a spate of violent arrests on the subway and over its plans to put more officers on the beat to catch anyone who skips paying the fare. Their grievances stem from two issues. One, alleged police brutality against New Yorkers including a group of teenagers who officers were seen fighting with in a recent viral video. The other issue is that police have vowed to create 500 additional jobs specifically for officers to monitor the subway network and arrest anyone who jumps the barriers rather than pay the $2.75 fee. Over the last month. several videos have emerged of #NYPD cops violently arresting seemingly nonviolent subway riders. #NY
Hong Kong police fired tear gas to break up a demonstration by thousands of masked anti-government protesters today as downtown Hong Kong turned into a battleground. The protests happened in Victoria Park, a traditional venue for demonstrations and vigils, and the surrounding streets. The fast-moving crowds headed to the park through the Causeway Bay shopping district, some pulling up metal fencing to build street barricades, their actions masked by others holding umbrellas. Activists also threw at least one petrol bomb. Police using megaphones warned them to disperse, saying they would be prosecuted for holding an illegal assembly on the 22nd straight weekend of protest. Police also raised a black flag, warning of tear gas, with activists running in all directions around the park. Anti-riot Police Tactical Unit vans were already in waiting on the narrow side-streets around the Central business district to the west, the protester's destination for later in the afternoon.๐Ÿ”ฅ #HK
