(WARNING 21+) As Torres continued to run west bound on Ottoman Street, a second OIS occurred. Torres then ran through a residential property on Ottoman Street and into the rear east/west alley of that location. A responding Foothill Division, Gang Enforcement Detail unit, saw Torres in the alley and stopped their patrol unit at the mouth of the alley on Arleta Avenue. Torres again raised his handgun in the direction of the officers, at which time a third OIS occurred. Torres collapsed in the alley and was taken into custody without further incident. The Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced Torres deceased. A .22 caliber handgun was located at scene and recovered as evidence. U.S. authorities announced that they cracked an international drug-trafficking ring based in Oregon that used an intricate network of criminals to smuggle methamphetamine, heroine and cocaine worth $15 million from Mexico to Portland. On Wednesday afternoon, U.S. Attorney Billy Williams revealed authorities at the federal, state and local level conducted raids that apprehended 20 people in an investigation the spanned more than a year. 10 people are already in custody, totaling to 30 people arrested, while eleven still remain at large. Williams said this case โ€˜marks one of the largest takedowns of a drug trafficking organization in the history of the District of Oregon.โ€™ โ€˜Today we announce charges against 41 defendants for conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, heroin and cocaine manufactured in Mexico throughout the greater Portland area, and for laundering theโ€ฆproceeds.โ€™ ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
Attorneys for thousands of victims of the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history have said that they reached a settlement expected to pay between $735 million and $800 million to those who sued over the Las Vegas massacre. The amount of the settlement with MGM Resorts International depends on the number of plaintiffs who take part, according to a statement on Thursday from Las Vegas law firm Eglet Adams. The firm represents nearly 2,500 victims and made the announcement just days after the second anniversary of the massacre. Hundreds of lawsuits have been filed against the owner of the MGM-owned Mandalay Bay resort where the gunman opened fire into an outdoor concert on October 1, 2017. The casino giant also owns the music venue where 58 people died and hundreds were injured.
Speaking at an energy forum in Moscow Vladimir Putin said: 'I may disappoint you but I don't share the common excitement about the speech by Greta Thunberg. No one has explained to Greta that the modern world is complex and different and...people in Africa or in many Asian countries want to live at the same wealth level as in Sweden. Go and explain to developing countries why they should continue living in poverty and not be like Sweden.'

A Illinois man allegedly shot his stepdaughter in the face in a hospital parking lot before fatally shooting himself in his car while she received treatment, authorities say. The horrific incident happened around 7pm on Wednesday outside the entrance to the Edward-Elmhurst Heart Hospital in the Chicago suburb Elmhurst. 'The father, apparently, allegedly shot the daughter in the face, and then somehow she made it into the ER, and he shot himself and, apparently, killed himself,' hospital spokesperson Keith Hartenberger said according to the Chicago Tribune. The unidentified man, believed to be in his 70s, was brought into the hospital on a stretcher by dispatched officers and pronounced dead, the Elmhurst Police Department said. At the same time the stepdaughter, who is thought to be in her 40s, was receiving treatment for her gun wound. The hospital was placed on lock down, but resumed operations within an hour. ๐Ÿ˜ฑ

New York appeals court halts ban of flavored e-cigarettes just 24 hours before it was due to take effect - as U.S. vaping-related deaths rise to 18. The court's ruling delays for at least one week Governor Andrew Cuomo's emergency executive action that would ban all flavored vaping products with the exception of menthol. Vaping companies had sued to stop the state's ban. Vapor Technology Association, a Washington, D.C.-based trade group representing business owners who sell vaping products, last week sued Cuomo and the stateโ€™s Department of Health saying that the ban was 'in excess of their constitutional, statutory and administrative authority,' the Wall Street Journal reported. ๐ŸŒฌโ˜ ๏ธ #vaping #NY
