BREAKING: knife armed man attacked police officers on police station in Paris, France, two officers injured, suspect was shot dead ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ
The recent outbreak of vaping-related lung injuries was most likely caused by direct exposure to toxic chemical fumes, according to a significant Mayo Clinic finding into the recent outbreak which has left more than 800 people hospitalized and 17 others dead. Mayo researchers in a report published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine said a first-ever examination of 17 biopsies from patients afflicted with vaping-related lung injuries showed no evidence of oil or lipid contamination which had been the suspected culprit behind the outbreak. The Mayo doctors, however, say they found the lung injuries consistent with 'direct lung toxicity from an inhaled noxious agent or agents,' similar to when someone is exposed to a toxic chemical spill, or when World War I soldiers breathed in deadly mustard gas, reports the Star Tribune. ๐ŸŒฌโ˜ ๏ธ #vaping

A Virginia doctor who prescribed more than 500,000 doses of opioids in two years was sentenced to 40 years in prison on Wednesday for leading what prosecutors called an interstate drug distribution ring. The overprescription of painkillers is one of the roots of the nationโ€™s opioid crisis, and patients of Dr. Joel Smithers traveled hundreds of miles from neighboring states to pick up oxymorphone, oxycodone, hydromorphone and fentanyl, according to law enforcement officials. They said he prescribed controlled substances to every patient in the Martinsville, Va., practice he opened in August 2015. Dr. Smithers, 36, was convicted of more than 800 counts of illegally prescribing opioids, and jurors found that the drugs he prescribed caused the death of a woman from West Virginia. He faced a maximum sentence of life in prison. ๐Ÿ’Š

(WARNING 21+) On August 19, 2019, around 4:19 p.m., LAPD, uniformed patrol officers, assigned to Mission Division, received and responded to a "Family Dispute" radio call for service at the 13100 block of Ottoman Street. When the officers arrived at the location they met with the person reporting, who directed them to the suspect (later identified as) Carlos Torres Jr. The officers encountered Torres on the front porch and attempted to speak with him. Torres then pointed the handgun at the officers and fired at them, which precipitated an OIS. Torres retreated into the house and a few moments later he was seen running through a neighborhood yard and onto Ottoman Street. (cam1) ๐Ÿ”ซ๐Ÿ‘ฎ๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ #shooting #LAPD
