Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez today announced that a former New York City Police Department officer was sentenced to four years’ probation following his guilty plea to perjury, making a false statement and official misconduct for making a false written statement and lying in a criminal court complaint and in the grand jury, reported Breaking 911. District Attorney Gonzalez said, “This defendant, a former police officer, admitted to the disturbing conduct of falsely charging an individual with a crime he did not commit. Our communities and our criminal justice system rely on the integrity and truthfulness of police officers so we must hold accountable those who abuse their positions and violate the public trust.” #NYPD

Three people were rescued over the weekend after they were found trapped in "a precarious situation" on a new section of border wall near San Diego, according to officials. A U.S. Customs and Border Protection news release said that around midnight Sunday, agents on patrol saw three people perched on top of the wall near Otay Mesa. The three, a man and two women, attempted to enter the U.S. illegally in dense fog by climbing the San Diego Sector’s new 30-foot, steel bollard wall before getting stuck, FOX News reports. “These three were very fortunate to not have fallen from the top of the wall, which could have resulted in serious injury or death,” CBP San Diego Sector’s Acting Chief Patrol Agent Aaron Heitke said in a statement. “These dangers are not important considerations to smugglers, who place an emphasis on profits over safety.”

(WARNING 21+) Videos released by the Texas Department of Public Safety on Tuesday show that a 27-year-old man shot by two troopers after a traffic stop last summer was holding a gun. The footage comes from the body camera and dash cam of two troopers who stopped Schaston Hodge on Aug. 17, 2019 in South Dallas. They began pursuing him after he failed to signal a left turn and led the troopers on a brief chase. The pursuit ended when troopers followed him into his grandmother’s driveway, and the situation escalated quickly. As Hodge gets out of his car, he is seen holding a gun. The videos release comes after The News obtained the autopsy report, which showed Hodge was shot 16 times - five times in front and four times in the back. 🔫👮🏻‍♂️#shooting

A dramatic car chase video, released by police, shows a driver's unsuccessful bid to escape troopers by jumping from his speeding vehicle before crashing, nearly crushing himself. A Michigan State Police trooper tried to pull a driver over for speeding on Interstate 94 on Friday. But police said the man continued weaving the black Impala in and out of traffic and drifting across lanes. The trooper in pursuit initially stopped the chase for safety reasons, but the driver later reappeared on the freeway and set off a wild chase, Lt. Mike Shaw. Dashcam footage shows the driver opening the car door and leaning out in an apparent attempt to abandon the vehicle while still speeding in front of the trooper. Unable to keep control of the car, he crashed into the center median, almost crushing himself. 👮🏻‍♂️ #pursuit #facepalm
