Four-year-old Ezra Galicia had a dream come true Tuesday night when he was sworn in as an honorary officer.
After Ezraβs love for police officers was highlighted earlier this year, the Colton Police Department decided to make him part of the team. During the special ceremony, Ezra took an oath to do good and listen to his mom, dad and aunt.
He was also given a custom police uniform and his very own badge.

UPDATE: Since the press conference, the Brantley County Sheriffβs Office GA has issued mandatory and immediate evacuation orders for these areas:
-GA-110 (Yellow Pine Rd) to Thrower Rd
-Browntown Road from Hwy 82 to Greenleaf Rd
Lulaton, Georgia- In response to the ongoing Brantley County wildfire, representatives from multiple Brantley government agencies called a press conference at the Brantley County Airport Wednesday afternoon. Brantley County Manager Joey Cason, Brantley Sheriff Len Davis, Camden County Emergency Management Director Chuck White, and Tony Pritchett, Deputy Commissioner of the Georgia Department of Safety and Fire all spoke at the event.
The fire is approaching 5,000 acres burned, and is currently 20% contained. Currently, 49 homes have been lost, though no injuries or deaths have yet been reported.
During the press conference, it was confirmed that 22 fire agencies from across the state have joined the containment efforts, including from Ware and Camden Counties, along with the City of Waycross. Governor Kemp officially issued a state of emergency today, and FEMA resources are en route to be delivered.
Residents are encouraged to continue monitoring official Brantley County social media for updates.

This morning at approximately 4:45am. Officer Dallas Hinton, 25 years old of the Thomasville Police Department was involved in a vehicle accident with an eighteen wheeler truck and trailer. Both vehicles were traveling north on Highway 43 in the city limits of Thomasville. Officer Hinton was pronounced dead at the scene. Thomasville Fire and the Clarke County Sheriff's Deputies all responded. ALEA is investigating the accident.

The Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF), established in 2025, is a coordinated initiative uniting federal agencies in the fight against transnational organized crime. Under the leadership of HSI & FBI San Juan, the HSTF conducted a major operation in St. Thomas to dismantle a human trafficking network.
As a result, three individuals were arrested and 12 victims were rescued. Our multidisciplinary team, comprised of victim assistance specialists and forensic interviewers, is already providing support to help them in their recovery. The nation's security is our mission!

NEW: A Detroit police officer working security detail at a Home Depot near Meyers and Seven Mile was injured while trying to break up a fight, according to MDN
Police say the officer, who was assigned to the station at the store, stepped in to stop an altercation between several men and called for backup. Officers from multiple precincts responded to assist.
The officer suffered minor injuries. Three people were arrested.

DEVELOPING: Wildfire Notification: Tusas Fire, San Miguel County, New Mexico.
The Tusas Fire was discovered at approximately 4 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 near NM 266, mile marker 2.5, west of Sapello in San Miguel County. The fire is burning in timber fuels, torching and making wind-driven runs from the southwest. Structures are threatened, and smoke is visible from N.M. 266 and the surrounding areas. State, local and federal fire crews are responding and utilizing full suppression tactics, including ordering of air resources. Currently, the fire is estimated at 50-75 acres and is zero percent contained. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
Evacuations / Closures: Per incident command, residents on NM 266 between mile markers 3-6 are being evacuated, and residents east of mile marker 3 are in Set status. NM 266 is closed at the State Highway 94 junction. Local residents should take caution and avoid the area.
Resources: Forestry Division; volunteer fire department resources from San Miguel County, Gallinas, Spaello and Sheridan; multiple Type-6 engines; Carson IHC hand crew; Mimbres Hand Crew; Pecos River Hand Crew; Wildfire Response Program; multiple air resources.
