This is the WORST part of working protests. If a person's 1A expression involves something physically harmful - like blasting a 120 dB air horn right next to your ear - that’s not protected expression. That's assault.

GIST: "In Louisiana, it could soon be a crime to direct loud, harmful sounds at people, after the state House advanced a bill that would add that behavior to the definition of battery.

House Bill 132 by state Rep. Brian Glorioso, R-Slidell, would expand the battery statute to include “the intentional directing of sound at another, in close proximity to another's ear or head” a crime, if whoever created the noise could “foresee that the conduct would cause physical pain, hearing impairment or bodily injury.”

FACTS:
- A typical handheld air horn you’d buy at a store is extremely loud—usually in the range of about 110 to 130 decibels (dB).
- A blast around 129 dB can cause immediate hearing damage at close range
- A typical handheld megaphone is usually in the range of 90 to 120 decibels (dB)
- Sustained noise of 90+dB (over 30 minutes) can cause damage (ask your smartwatch)

Some (not all) protesters exploit this.
Officers are not punching bags.
This is why noise ordinances exist in the first place.

DEVELOPING: Man barricaded in a bathroom with a rifle and a backpack containing a bomb at Bass Pro Shops in downtown Memphis; caller claims five pipe bombs were placed in the hunting section, 911 call.

Bass Pro Pyramid currently being evacuated over a threat of man with rifle and bomb threat full Memphis Safe Task Force presence, including National Guard.

K-9 Luca is part of the criminal investigations division of the Clay County Sheriff’s Office. K-9 Luca was in an enclosed space when an ozone machine inadvertently turned on. The exposure can cause lung injuries. K-9 Luca’s handler located him in respiratory distress and vomiting.

K-9 Luca was rushed to a veterinarian, he was sedated and airlifted to University of Knoxville, Tennessee.
