LA County Sheriff Alex Villanueva: This morning, we gathered to show our support to retired LASD HQ Sergeant Jeannie Ramirez who is battling breast cancer. During her tenure with LASD East LA station, Sgt. Ramirez immersed herself in the East Los Angeles community and became endeared by those she served as well as by station staff. Deputies are rallying together to help as much as they can.
Awareness about this terrible disease is crucial and increased attention should be focused on it during breast cancer awareness month.

31 days of #BreastCancerAwareness is not enough to help those currently fighting breast cancer. We must all be involved and take action.
Since 2016, The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department has participated in the Pink Patch Project to support Breast Cancer Awareness.
In 2019 for the first time in the Department's history, Department members were authorized to wear LASD pink patches on their uniforms for the month of October.
You will find many of our department members wearing the pink patch in support of their loved ones and supporting those currently fighting the disease.
The pink patch serves as a symbol to promote public awareness of the significance of early detection and the ongoing fight against breast cancer, fostering meaningful discussions within the communities we serve.
