Three men in Chicago were charged with federal gun charges as part of President Trump's Operation Legend, which will deploy hundreds of additional federal agents to help law enforcement fight 'violent crimes' in the city. The U.S. Attorney's Office of the Northern District of Illinois revealed the suspects are the first to be charged under the new federal initiative that cropped up in early July. The arrests come after Trump on Wednesday officially announced that 'hundreds' of federal officers would be deployed to Chicago and Albuquerque, New Mexico, as civilians clash with law enforcement during Black Lives Matter protests. Apart from protests, the City of Chicago has seen a surge in gun violence that resulted in more than 1,000 shootings this year and at least 414 murders - which is 50 per cent over 2019's data.

Three men were shot, one of them critically wounded, and a woman was hit by shrapnel at a Dallas sports bar by a suspect who had been denied entry. Dallas police said, the suspect, who was still at large, was among three men who weren’t let in to the bar on Riverfront Boulevard which was at full capacity because of coronavirus rules. Police said he went to his car and came back with an "assault-type weapon." The bouncer, who had denied the man entry, secured the doors. The suspect, cops said, fired into the building, causing the reported injuries. The alleged shooter then went to the back of the bar where he was "confronted by armed patrons," and they fired upon the suspect. The shooter left the bar before cops arrived at the scene. One victim reportedly was shot in the arm. The second victim suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The final victim was shot and declared in critical condition at a nearby hospital.

Alameda County Sheriff’s Deputy Oscar Rocha loved his job so much that when he died Thursday night from COVID-19 complications, he had his badge in his hand as the sudden roar of a motorcycle honor guard outside his hospital room could be heard. A senior member of the sheriff’s office, Rocha worked with the department for 25 years, mostly at the Rene C. Davidson Courthouse in Oakland as a bailiff or at the security entrances to the courthouse and adjacent county administrative building. Kelly, who attended the police academy with Rocha, called him loyal and dependable. He was a friend, Kelly said, and a cigar and scotch aficionado. #RIP

An armed man who family members say was suicidal was shot and killed by police Thursday in a residential neighborhood in the city of Orange. Officers with the Orange Police Department shot the suspect at around 11:20 a.m. in the 7300 block of Magdalena Drive in the Serrano Heights neighborhood after responding to a 911 call from the suspect’s family.Family members told police the man was suicidal and needed help. When they arrived on scene, police say the man was standing in the street and began to approach them. When he was uncooperative and did not respond to their commands, police deployed nonlethal ammunition before ultimately opening fire on the individual. A knife was found next to the suspect’s body, officials said. No officers were wounded. His name was not released, but police say he is in his forties and lives on the street where the #shooting occurred.

HOUSTON -- A Harris County Constable's Office Precinct 5 deputy has died of COVID-19 after a two-month battle with the virus, authorities said Sunday. The wife of Deputy Mark Brown, 53, said he died around 11 p.m. Saturday at their home after spending about two months in intensive care at a hospital. He was allowed to return home Friday, she said. She detailed how the virus had impacted their family, including herself and their oldest son — all of whom tested positive. She said the three of them began feeling unwell in mid-May. Brown was hospitalized twice, the second time after his symptoms took a turn for the worst. Brown, a Houston native, worked 23 years as a law enforcement officer in Hempstead and for Spring Branch ISD. He joined the constable's office in 2017 and was most recently an investigative deputy in the Special Operations Division. #RIP
