The Michigan State Police on Tuesday released video of a #shooting by a trooper of a man alleged to be armed with a knife on Monday afternoon. The video, which state police said was obtained from a surveillance camera in a nearby business, shows the man circling a stopped state police cruiser and then advancing toward the officer while the officer points a gun at him and backs up. The officer then shoots and the man falls to the ground. (Read the Full Story).
Garrett Rolfe, the Atlanta police officer fired after the killing of Rayshard Brooks last week, now faces 11 charges including felony murder, which could potentially lead to the death penalty, a Georgia district attorney announced Wednesday. A second officer, Devin Brosnan, is facing three charges, including aggravated assault, Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard Jr. said at a news conference. During the announcement, Howard said that Brosnan had agreed to give a statement against Rolfe and become a "state's witness" -- but Brosnan's attorneys later disputed that claim. "He honestly told the DA’s office everything that happened during a lengthy interview yesterday," attorney Don Samuel told Fox News. "He will continue to tell the DA or the GBI (Georgia Bureau of Iinvestigation), or any other investigator what happened. But, he is absolutely not guilty of any crime and will not plead guilty and has not agreed to be a 'state’s witness.'" #WTF

An SUV spun out of control and went over a barrier on the Carquinez Bridge in Northern California on Tuesday night, plummeting more than 200 feet and killing the driver and three passengers. Dashcam video from another vehicle shows the SUV driving at a high rate of speed on Interstate 80 toward the bridge in Crockett, near San Francisco, before losing control and spinning out. It then went over the side and fell on a parked freight train. The Contra Costa County coroner identified the victims as Kyle Erickson, 19; Christopher Mata, 21; Cecilia Ayala, 22; and Perla Navarro, 19, who was two months pregnant. The California Highway Patrol is handling the investigation and said it doesn’t yet know what caused the crash.

Atlanta INtown reports, “A drive around Zone 6 indicated there was not the usual APD presence. A Georgia State Patrol unit was handling a two-car accident at Boulevard and Edgewood Avenue around 9 p.m. The APD’s precinct at Wellstar Atlanta Medical Center appeared empty. Down in Grant Park, the Zone 3 precinct was populated by Fulton County Sheriff units.” Social media chatter has been at a fever pitch all evening about walkouts in Zones 3 and 6. Police radio traffic in Zone 6 – which covers Inman Park, Old Fourth Ward, Virginia-Highland, and Reynoldstowns, among others – has gone quiet. Sgt. John Chaffee with APD’s public affairs unit denied the walkouts in a statement, but said there had been a higher than usual number of call outs.

Authorities are investigating after deputies with the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department fatally shot a man and injured a woman in Rosamond Wednesday afternoon. The shooting happened at about 4:39 p.m. in 3400 block 15th Street West in the Kern County community of Rosamond, just north of Lancaster, the department said. Detectives with the Major Crimes Unit were tracking a man suspected of kidnapping, spousal assault and assault with a deadly weapon. When deputies attempted to make a traffic stop, the man allegedly opened the door and started shooting. Deputies returned fire, killing the man and shooting a woman, who was also in the vehicle, in the chest. The woman, who authorities said was not the spouse involved in the alleged assault, was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. #LASD also said a 7-year-old girl was in the car, but was uninjured in the shooting.
