Fired. So fired.
Kobe Bryant and his 13-year-old daughter Gianna were killed along with and seven others in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California, on Sunday morning. The 41-year-old former Los Angeles Lakers basketball star's private Sikorsky S-76 struck a hillside amid heavy fog and immediately caught fire at around 10am. Officials with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department responded to the scene near Las Virgenes Rd and Willow Glen St in Calabasas after a group of mountain bikers spotted the smoke. Initial reports claimed five had been killed, but the death toll was raised to nine - including the pilot - at a press conference Sunday night. The cause of the crash is under investigation. Witnesses reported hearing the helicopter's engine sputtering before it went down near the home of Kourtney Kardashian.

Hong Kong protesters have fuelled coronavirus chaos by lobbing petrol bombs at an empty housing complex in fury over it being designated as a quarantine zone. Molotov cocktails were launched on Sunday night at the empty block which had been earmarked to become a temporary facility after the city confirmed six cases. Among other ramped-up measures to reduce the risk of further infections, officials proposed using the building to house suspected victims, as well as front-line medical staff worried about infecting their families. But dozens of angry local residents and protesters opposed to the measures set up roadblocks outside the complex before riot police moved in with tear gas. 🔥 #HK

Amanda Chase, a Republican state senator in Virginia, reacted on Sunday to the fact that Democrats in the Virginia House are advancing a package of gun-control measures less than a week after tens of thousands of pro-gun advocates from around the country rallied at the state Capitol saying, “there’s an all-out war on our Constitution.” Speaking on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” just days after the pro-gun advocates staged the massive rally in Richmond, Va., Chase, who was a keynote speaker at the rally, said she “won't back down” and will continue to fight against the gun-control measures.

Charlie James Chapman Jr, 41, faces multiple charges after police said he temporarily blinded one of the pilots. Video claims to show him throwing rocks and directing the laser at a Manatee County Sheriff's helicopter attempting to locate him. “Pointing a laser at multiple aircraft didn’t end well for Charlie Chapman Jr.,” the MCSO said on Facebook. “He was arrested after pointing one at planes heading into SRQ Airport last night, and then at our MCSO Aviation Unit helicopter. He even tried throwing rocks at the helicopter!”

Video posted to social media shows a group of passersby heroically lift a black Mercedes SUV off of a pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Sunday evening. The video shows about a dozen locals rush over to the intersection near Delancey and Norfolk Streets, where a woman was trapped underneath the SUV. They then lifted the SUV off of its two right-side tires and held it in the air long enough for others to drag the female pedestrian from underneath the vehicle. A photo taken by Colby Droscher, who filmed the incident, showed the woman talking on her phone and appearing to be okay afterward. #NYC
