Video posted to social media shows a group of passersby heroically lift a black Mercedes SUV off of a pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Sunday evening. The video shows about a dozen locals rush over to the intersection near Delancey and Norfolk Streets, where a woman was trapped underneath the SUV. They then lifted the SUV off of its two right-side tires and held it in the air long enough for others to drag the female pedestrian from underneath the vehicle. A photo taken by Colby Droscher, who filmed the incident, showed the woman talking on her phone and appearing to be okay afterward. #NYC

#NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio and his wife Chirlane McCray were heckled as they strolled through Brooklyn's Prospect Park on Saturday, criticized for traveling to Brooklyn for a walk. The couple live in the Gracie Mansion in Manhattan about 11 miles away. New Yorker Darren Goldner took video of the moment he scolded the Mayor for forcing an entourage of four SUV security vehicles to drive his family to the park for a nonessential recreational walk in a completely different borough. New York state remains the epicenter of COVID-19 in the US with over 291,000 cases and over 17,000 deaths reported so far.

Shootings rising dramatically in #NYC, police data shows. Some have expressed concern that shootings have increased as the city's anti-crime units are disbanded.
Shootings across the city more than doubled last week compared to the same period last year, according to police sources. From last Monday to midnight Sunday, there were 63 shootings, with a total of 85 victims shot. During the same time frame last year, there were 26 shootings. Murders, though, were down last week compared to the same time last year. Six people were fatally shot last week, compared to nine shooting deaths last year. Last week’s rash of shootings included a bloody 12-hour spree from Saturday into Sunday where 11 people were shot in Brooklyn, The Bronx, Queens, and Manhattan. #NYC

Police in New York City have scuffled with protesters and used pepper spray at a gay rights march organized to call for an end to police brutality - despite the official parade being canceled due to coronavirus. The Queer Liberation March, taking place for the second year running, drew thousands to the cause after the traditional parade was called off in April. The peaceful protest descended into chaos when police charged at activists gathered in Washington Square in Manhattan. As two were being arrested for graffiti, protesters intervened in an attempt to free them, at which point police responded with pepper spray. #NYC
New York City has voted to slash $1billion from the NYPD budget, following weeks of protests and fraught negotiations with Mayor Bill de Blasio - as some lawmakers complain it falls short of what activists demanded. The austere, coronavirus-era budget tightens spending across city agencies, including a cut of nearly $484million from the NYPD's $6billion operating budget if the department can adhere to new overtime limits, the city council said. Video footage shared on social media showed the moment a violent clash broke out between cops and protesters as officers attempted to control the crowds by pushing them towards the sidewalk with their batons. In a clip taken four hours before the decision was made, officers are seen yelling at protesters to step back while one protester, who is out of frame, fires back at the cops saying they are 'not welcome here' and urging them to leave. #NYC

New York City emerged from another violent weekend that included 10 fatalities, including a father who was gunned down Sunday crossing the street with his 6-year-old daughter in broad daylight. Video showed Anthony Robinson, 29, with his daughter on their way back home to Brooklyn from the Bronx, according to local reports. Surveillance video shows a car pull up alongside them and open fire. The girl runs while Robinson collapses onto the street. ABC 7 NY reported that he was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital. The girl was unharmed. “Mr. Robinson isn’t the only victim of that crime," he said. “That young girl is the victim of that crime, that community in the northeast part of the 4-4 Precinct is also a victim of that murder,” Chief Jason Wilcox said. Authorities are offering a $10,000 reward. Have any info? Call/DM @NYPDTips at 800-577-TIPS. #NYPD #NYC
