Incredible progress has been made on wildfires in both Washington and Oregon. This is a view of nighttime firing Ops on the Kaiser Canyon Fire near Nespelem, WA. The fire is now 136,870 acres and 52% contained. Next door, the Sinlahekin Fire is 126,168 acres.

Down in Oregon, the larger complex fires all have significant containment, with the least contained fires in the PNW being those in wilderness areas. There are 436 crews, 1,033 engines, and 94 helicopters in the region, for a total of 18,637 fire personnel assigned to PNW fires.

Update: Deputy Involved Shooting - Detective Injury

Our detective who was injured during yesterday’s deputy involved shooting underwent successful surgery and is in stable condition. He continues to recover and is expected to be released from the hospital in the near future.

We are grateful to the members of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department for their quick response, assistance, and immediate medical care provided to our detective. We also want to thank the medical professionals and hospital staff at Antelope Valley Medical Center who continue to provide him with excellent medical care.

The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department is handling the investigation into the deputy involved shooting and will provide additional updates as appropriate.

Today, the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department celebrates the life of Sergeant Robert A. La Voie Jr.

Throughout his 26 years of dedicated service, Sergeant La Voie made a lasting impact on the department and the communities he served. He worked in numerous assignments, consistently demonstrating exceptional professionalism, leadership, and commitment to duty. His exemplary service earned him several commendations, including the Meritorious Conduct Medal, and he proudly achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Sergeant La Voie is survived by his loving wife and son, along with many relatives, friends, and Department members who deeply cared for him. His strong leadership, mentorship, and unwavering dedication will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege of working alongside him.

His legacy of service will continue to live on within the Department.

After the tragic news broke yesterday of the loss of Doral PD Officer Erwin Fernandez, we learned of the unimaginable news that we also lost another brave officer from our area earlier this week. Also sadly by suicide. It is with profound sadness that we also share the passing of Officer Nicholas “Nick” Nulty of the Seminole Tribe of Florida Police Department. Officer Nulty tragically passed away on Monday, August 3rd, 2026, after reportedly struggling with PTSD. Officer Nulty also previously served his country as a member of the U.S. Marine Corps. We send our heartfelt condolences to his family, friends, and the department for his loss. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all during this devastating time and we thank Officer Nulty for his service. We hope he is now at peace. The epidemic of law enforcement suicide continues to plague this profession and we must do more to stop losing so many needlessly. FOX NEWS: Sen. Mitch McConnell is heading home after being discharged from rehab, but his return to the Senate doesn't appear imminent.

McConnell said in a statement: “On the advice of my doctors, I’ll maintain an intensive regimen of physical therapy from home during the state work period, and I’ll continue to engage with my staff and colleagues on important Senate business.”

It’s considered doubtful McConnell returns to the Senate before the fall.

NEW: DHS confirms that a suspect arrested in Illinois for being found in possession of eight Molotov cocktails is a Jordanian illegal alien who was caught and released at the California border by the Biden administration in 2024. DHS says Hamed Mohammed Hamed Alsaidi was arrested by ICE after local police in Will County, IL arrested him, then released him and refused to honor ICE’s detainer request due to sanctuary policies & Illinois’ SAFE-T Act.

He was seen wandering aimlessly in traffic and gave officers a fake name. Once he was arrested, officers learned his real name and discovered the Molotov cocktails, which had gauze stuck in the tops of them to use as a wick.

Police say he also had a written map of the area, including a local train station, and the words “you see the mosque” written down.

Alsaidi is charged locally with felony unlawful possession of a weapon and misdemeanor obstructing identification and remains in ICE custody.

MURDER CHARGE... FOR THIS? An Aurora police officer was indicted after a suspect fled police, crashed into TWO cars, fought the officer, and then kept advancing as the officer RETREATED.

Officer Matthew Neely is now facing second-degree m*rder and manslaughter charges over the 2025 shooting of Rajon Belt-Stubblefield. Belt-Stubblefield ignored repeated commands, got out of the vehicle and physically struggled with Neely.

Instead of surrendering, he continued advancing toward Neely while the officer backed away roughly 50 FEET and repeatedly ordered him to get on the ground.

This is insane. How far should an officer let a violent interaction go before he defends himself? How can he know that there is no threat to the community when the perpetrator just won't stop coming at him?
