Americans under the age of 30 are more likely to resent the rich and even to support violent acts against the wealthy, a new survey has revealed. The Cato Institute's annual survey of attitudes toward welfare, work and wealth, published on Tuesday, revealed that 39% of those ages 18 to 29 feel more 'resentment' than admiration of rich people, compared to just 16% of those over 65. Among the younger group, 44% said they felt angry when they read about the very rich, and 35% said they thought citizens could be justified in taking violent action against the rich. Young Americans were the only age cohort in which a majority believe the wealthy didn't earn their wealth, the study found.

A government-controlled Chinese newspaper has issued a stern warning to global brands in response to the Houston Rockets GM showing his support for anti-communist Hong Kong protesters: stay out of our politics or risk losing business. The warning, which was included in a piece by The Global Times, was the latest development in the row surrounding a tweet posted by Houston Rockets GM Daryl Morey on October 4. In it, he shared his support for the protesters in Hong Kong fighting against China's communist regime. He deleted it later, however, when the consequences of his criticizing it became clear. Chinese state television is now refusing to show pre-season games and businesses have cut ties with the Rockets in response to Morey's tweet. The NBA has come under intense scrutiny for buckling and expressing 'regret' over Morey's post. ๐
On the eve of Yom Kippur, vandals left anti-Semitic hate symbols on a Westchester, New York, memorial honoring Holocaust victims. And just days prior, a swastika and the name 'Trump' were found spray-painted on the steps of Yale's law school, WTNH reports. These anti-Semitic hate crimes come as police have beefed up security ahead of the most significant holiday in the Jewish faith. In New York City police beefed up security for Yom Kippur, which runs from Tuesday to Wednesday, stationing 130 cops at city synagogues and 25 additional police cars in predominately Jewish neighborhoods. 'There's been some overtime put out, we're figuring a good 20-25 additional cars working in those areas, working around the synagogues, all night with their turret lights on,' NYPD Chief Terence Monahan said at a press conference on crime statistic. #NYC #NYPD
