Climate change protests took over big cities across the country on Friday, with hundreds of thousands skipping school in Boston, Washington DC, Omaha, Indianapolis and Greenborough to join millions around the globe in the lead-up to teenage activist Greta Thunberg's appearance in New York for a summit at the UN. In New York itself, the city's Department of Education said all its 1.1 million schoolchildren were free to skip class to participate in the strike if they had parental consent - without any fear of punishment as Thunberg, who has been nominated for a Nobel prize for her climate activism, spearheaded a rally at the United Nations headquarters. It appears that many took heed of the relaxed school attendance laws, as the streets of Manhattan overflowed with thousands of young protesters on Friday afternoon. 🌎

Facebook has suspended 'tens of thousands' of apps on its platform that were found to be 'inappropriately' sharing data. The company did not describe the nature of the data collected and a request for comment by @police_frequency in the Telegram has not been responded before time of publication. According to a blog post from the company on Friday, the suspension of those accounts was part of a broader privacy push from the company in the wake of scandals involving Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy, which harvested the private data of 87 million users. That data included information on attorneys, external investigators, data scientists, engineers, policy specialists and others, which was extracted in an effort to help the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. #delete_facebook
A man has shared a horrific picture of a couple unconscious and slumped over each other in their car, amid fears Australia is faced with a growing opioid crisis. The man said he came across the two people in Mount Hawthorn, Perth, Australia, around school pick-up time on Thursday afternoon. With the car engine still running and the pair unresponsive, the witness was immediately worried they'd overdosed on drugs. He told Seven News that it took several attempts to wake the man in the driver's seat. There was no evidence in or around the car to suggest the couple were taking drugs. The witness said they drove off to a nearby alley after being awoken. He claimed they fell asleep again. He decided to take the driver's keys and call police, amid fears they'd cause danger on the roads.
