Facebook users face new privacy concerns as yet another security breach could be giving away the names of people they have been messaging. Hackers trying to gain access to private accounts need only to get users to click a video link, which would be easily disguised as regular content. The loophole then lets hackers check which contacts had recently engaged with the user over Facebook Messenger. The flaw comes a day after CEO Mark Zuckerberg announced a 'privacy-focused future' for its users. π‘ #delete_facebook

Phone numbers linked to more than 400 million Facebook accounts have been posted online in the latest security disaster for the firm. According to TechCrunch, 133 million US accounts, more than 50 million in Vietnam, and 18 million in Britain were among 419 million records left in an open online server that was not secured with a password. This includes, according to the person who unearthed the database, profiles and phone numbers of some celebrities. Facebook has confirmed the report, but said the total number is likely to be around half because of duplicate entries. This latest issue is thought to be from publicly available information previously used to allow people to search for others by using their phone number, which was disabled in April 2018 in response to the Cambridge Analytica scandal. π‘ #delete_facebook
Facebook has suspended 'tens of thousands' of apps on its platform that were found to be 'inappropriately' sharing data. The company did not describe the nature of the data collected and a request for comment by @police_frequency in the Telegram has not been responded before time of publication. According to a blog post from the company on Friday, the suspension of those accounts was part of a broader privacy push from the company in the wake of scandals involving Cambridge Analytica, a political consultancy, which harvested the private data of 87 million users. That data included information on attorneys, external investigators, data scientists, engineers, policy specialists and others, which was extracted in an effort to help the presidential campaign of Donald Trump. #delete_facebook
