Colorado: There is a new start off I-76 near mile marker 165 in Sedgwick county, Colorado. The county sheriff has ordered evacuations.

"Attention residents: Due to a wildfire at Interstate 76 and Highway 59, and extending south to County Road 18 and east to County Road 19, all residents in the immediate area are required to evacuate immediately. Fire crews are working to contain the blaze at the intersections of County Road 18 and 19. Please follow all instructions and head to the nearest safe zone."

This colors run represented pride, unity, and recognition of the hard work and dedication demonstrated by the recruits throughout their academy journey. Class #487 dedicated the run to the memory of LASD Arson/Explosives Detective Victor “Vic” Lemus, honoring his 22 years of dedicated service and the lasting legacy he leaves behind.

A special spotlight was placed on Michael Leon, an honorary recruit and Special Olympics athlete, whose participation embodied perseverance, determination, and the inclusive spirit of the Academy.

An inmate was indicted in Bronx Supreme Court for slashing a Correction Officer in the face.

Shemar Hassani-Shaw, 24, of Brooklyn was arraigned on Monday at the Bronx Supreme Court. According to the investigation, Hassani-Shaw approached a correction officer from behind and slashed him across the cheek. The incident happened on Dec. 3 inside the Otis Bantum Correctional Center. A sharp metal object and a sharpened piece of plastic were recovered at the scene.
Officials say the attack was unprovoked and was captured on video surveillance.
Hassani-Shaw is facing charges including attempted assault, promoting prison contraband and criminal possession of a weapon.

An officer with the Jacksonville Police Department in North Carolina was shot and killed earlier this week by security officers at Camp Lejeune.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE       

On Tuesday, January 13, at approximately 12:40 PM, Jacksonville Police were notified by The Camp Lejeune Provost Marshal’s Office of an incident on Marine Corps Base Camp Lejeune involving an off-duty Jacksonville Police Department officer, Philip Chiorino. Officer Chiorino sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Chiorino, a former Marine firearms instructor, had joined the department in August 2024.
