Late today, Wednesday, June 18, the Indiana State Police released a statement on the officer-involved shooting this morning outside the Hilton Garden Inn
The statement in its entirety:
βThe Indiana State Police Criminal Investigations Section was requested by Chesterton Chief of Police Tim Richardson to investigate an officer-involved shooting that took place this morning. The following information was discussed at an earlier press conference.
βThis morning at approximately 8 a.m., the Chesterton Police Department was dispatched to the Hilton Garden Inn, located at 501 Gateway Blvd. in Chesterton, to investigate a complaint about a suspicious person who had been in the hotel and was not a guest.
βWhen two officers arrived, they located the individual who had been reported by the hotel staff. During the initial interaction, a confrontation took place between the officers and the suspect. At some point during the altercation, the officers exchanged gunfire with the suspect, with one of the officers sustaining a gunshot injury. That officer was transported to a trauma hospital in Illinois for treatment of that injury.
βThe suspect was declared deceased at the scene by the Porter County Coroner.
βNo other officers or individuals were injured during the incident. The officer who suffered the gunshot injury has been released from the hospital and is expected to make a full recovery.
βIndiana State Police detectives and crime scene investigators responded to the scene and, at the request of Chief Richardson, have initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the shooting. Once completed, those findings will be turned over to the Porter County Prosecutor for official review.
βNotification to next of kin of the deceased has been made. Identification of the deceased will be released by the Porter County Coronerβs Office according to their policies. An autopsy will be conducted on Thursday to determine the cause of death.
βThe Indiana State Police will not have any further comments or information to be released as this is an active investigation.β

βFor even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps: Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth: Who, when he was reviled, reviled not again; when he suffered, he threatened not; but committed himself to him that judgeth righteously: Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.β

EXCLUSIVE: We were with ICE & HSI Los Angeles as they arrested a Salvadoran alien w/ an active deportation order who has convictions for murder & attempted murder in LA County, but ICE may not be able to deport him due to a protection he got in the final days of the Biden admin.
ICE says ALEXANDER ALFREDO PALACIOS GUEVARA is a Surenos gang member who has had an active deportation order since February 2024. He is a convicted murderer, and also has two prior convictions for attempted murder, all in Los Angeles County.
During his ICE arrest, he repeatedly told me, on camera, that he shouldn't be deported because he has "CAT".
It turns out, his claim was true. ICE wasn't aware during his arrest, but in the last days of the Biden admin, in December 2024, Guevara had been granted what's known as "DCAT", or Deferred Removal under the Convention Against Torture, meaning he can't be deported to his home country because he fears he will be tortured there.
The decision was made by the Board of Immigration Appeals (BIA), under the Biden Department of Justice, on 12/18/2024.
ICE will keep Guevara in custody & seek to deport him to a third party country, but they are waiting for SCOTUS to rule on their ability to do so, after a federal judge in Boston blocked third party removals earlier this year.
ICE, under the Trump admin, is outraged that a decision under the Biden admin is currently stopping them from deporting a convicted murderer & alleged gang member who has a final deportation order & received his due process.
ICE statement to FOX:
βThis criminal alien should never have been roaming the streets of Los Angeles. Not only is he a member of the ruthless Surenos gang, but he also has multiple convictions for murder, assault and rape or sexual abuse of a minor. A highly unusual Biden-era legal decision from December allowed this dangerous criminal to live in American communities. Thanks to the leadership of President Trump and Secretary Noem, we are removing public safety threats as it always should have been.β
Guevara told me to call his immigration attorney in LA. I did, multiple times, and also emailed her, asking about his case, his criminal history, and who he fears will torture him if he is deported?
I never got a response.
