Waukegan police have released body camera and dashboard camera footage from a fatal police #shooting that left a Black man dead and a Black woman injured. 19-year-old Marcellis Stinnette was killed in the Oct. 20 shooting, while his girlfriend Tafara Williams suffered serious injuries. According to Waukegan officials, the officer who fired the shots in the incident did not have his body camera activated when he opened fire, but turned the camera on shortly after the shooting. That footage, along with body camera footage from other officers and the dashboard footage from the officer’s vehicle, was released Wednesday after it was first shown to the Stinnette and Williams families. A New Orleans Police Department officer was shot in the face by a man in the back of a pedicab Friday afternoon in the French Quarter. The four-year veterans of the force is in serious but stable condition according to NOPD Superintendent Shaun Ferguson, who also described the shooting as an "ambush." The shooting happened near St. Phillip and Royal Streets at around 4:30 p.m. Two officers were sitting in their patrol car when the gunman opened fire. One officer was grazed by broken glass while another officer suffered more serious injuries, included a bullet to the face. Police arrested the suspect a few blocks away and was described as being in "medical distress." He was the taken to the hospital.
