A criminal suspect in Texas was fatally shot Tuesday while fighting with a police officer during an attempted arrest. Several San Antonio police officers in uniform and plainclothes were serving two arrest warrants for domestic violence and a bond violation for a family violence offense. The suspect was in a front yard when officers approached him to make an arrest. "When the officer grabbed him to place him under arrest, he fought, he hit the officer in the face with a can of paint," San Antonio Police Chief William McManus told reporters at the scene. The officer and suspect fell to the ground and wrestled. During the struggle, the suspect pulled the officer's gun from his holster, McManus said. The unidentified suspect was hit and taken to a hospital where he later died. It was not clear how many shots were fired and where the suspect was hit.

The second and final hostage escaped from a home on the west side of Detroit early Wednesday as the gunman who barricaded himself inside continues a standoff with police that has lasted more than 24 hours. A male hostage managed to escape from the home at the 15000 block of Iliad Road as the lone gunman remains inside and negotiations with law enforcement outside continue, Detroit Police Capt. Kurt Worboys told reporters from a nearby street corner at around 6:15 a.m. Investigators believe the gunman fell asleep and the second hostage ran out the front door. Worboys said before directing his message toward the shooter who may be watching. “We want him to know that we are going to wait for him. We want him to come out peacefully. We’re not looking to hurt him,” Worboys said. “If he’s watching TV -- today I think our negotiators have asked him to turn the TV on -- please put the weapons down. Come out with your hands up. And we will take care of you.”

GRESHAM, Ore. - An Oregon man was arrested Tuesday after he allegedly tried to rob a cab driver at gunpoint before getting shot by his own firearm. Josiah Johnson, 18, was picked up by the cab driver in Gresham, Ore., where he was asked to provide his phone as collateral due to the long drive. When they arrived at an intersection in Aloha the driver said Johnson tried to pay with a $100 bill, which he immediately recognized was fake. Johnson allegedly pulled a gun out and pointed it at the back of the cab driver’s head while yelling at the driver who wasn't able to understand him. The unidentified cabbie then saw an opportunity to grab the gun from Johnson. "A struggle occurred over the gun, and during the struggle, the gun discharged - striking Mr. Johnson," according to a media release by the Washington County Sheriff's Office. "The bullet entered Mr. Johnson’s left hip and exited out his left buttocks."

Tulsa, Oklahoma — The body camera footage from the murder of Sergeant Craig Johnson and the attempted murder of Officer Aurash Zarkeshan has been released by Tulsa Police Department. On June 29th, 2020 at 3:06 am Officer Zarkeshan stopped David Ware after he failed to yield when pulling onto the roadway, made an illegal left turn, and operated a vehicle with expired tags. At 3:23 am, 11 minutes later, suspect Ware fired multiple rounds at the Officers. Sergeant Craig Johnson died as result of injuries from the #shooting. Officer Zarkeshan was critically wounded and continues to recover.
