Amanda Chase, a Republican state senator in Virginia, reacted on Sunday to the fact that Democrats in the Virginia House are advancing a package of gun-control measures less than a week after tens of thousands of pro-gun advocates from around the country rallied at the state Capitol saying, “there’s an all-out war on our Constitution.” Speaking on “Fox & Friends Weekend,” just days after the pro-gun advocates staged the massive rally in Richmond, Va., Chase, who was a keynote speaker at the rally, said she “won't back down” and will continue to fight against the gun-control measures.

A Florida man was arrested after shining a laser pointer at multiple pilots making their approaches at Sarasota-Bradenton International Airport, police said. Charlie James Chapman Jr, 41, faces multiple charges after police said he temporarily blinded one of the pilots. Video claims to show him throwing rocks and directing the laser at a Manatee County Sheriff's helicopter attempting to locate him. “Pointing a laser at multiple aircraft didn’t end well for Charlie Chapman Jr.,” the MCSO said on Facebook. “He was arrested after pointing one at planes heading into SRQ Airport last night, and then at our MCSO Aviation Unit helicopter. He even tried throwing rocks at the helicopter!”

Video posted to social media shows a group of passersby heroically lift a black Mercedes SUV off of a pedestrian who was struck by the vehicle on Manhattan’s Lower East Side on Sunday evening. The video shows about a dozen locals rush over to the intersection near Delancey and Norfolk Streets, where a woman was trapped underneath the SUV. They then lifted the SUV off of its two right-side tires and held it in the air long enough for others to drag the female pedestrian from underneath the vehicle. A photo taken by Colby Droscher, who filmed the incident, showed the woman talking on her phone and appearing to be okay afterward. #NYC

U.S. officials confirmed Monday that a manned, American surveillance aircraft crashed in Afghanistan’s Ghazni province, USA Today reported. Army Col. Sonny Leggett, a spokesman for the U.S.-led coalition in Kabul, denied Taliban claims that other aircraft had crashed. “While the cause of crash is under investigation, there are no indications the crash was caused by enemy fire,” Leggett said in a statement. “We will provide additional information as it becomes available. Taliban claims that additional aircraft have crashed are false." Leggett identitfied the military plane as a Bombardier E-11A. Monday's plane crash is not expected to derail U.S.-Taliban peace talks if it turns out to have been an accident. The Bombardier E-11A is a U.S. Air Force electronic surveillance plane. Video from the crash site circulating on social media appeared to show its charred ruins.
(WARNING: 21+) #LAPD Force Investigation Division is investigating an Officer-Involved Shooting (OIS) that occurred early Saturday afternoon. On January 11, 2020, around 12:40 p.m., radio calls were generated by citizens reporting a "Man with a Gun" in the area of South Sepulveda Boulevard and South Venice Boulevard, an intersection that acts as the border between the City of Los Angeles and Culver City. The supervisor stopped his police vehicle, exited and immediately observed the suspect pointing what he believed to be a handgun at him. A nearby witness also observed the suspect and believed the item in his hand was a gun as well. An OIS occurred and the suspect was struck by gunfire. He fell to the ground and was then taken into custody without further incident. The suspect was treated at scene by the Los Angeles Fire Department Paramedics and was then transported by Culver City Fire Department Paramedics to the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center where he was pronounced dead. 🔫👮🏻♂️ #shooting
