The U.S. military has brought back the remains of at least 20 servicemen killed in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II to Hawaii. An Air Force cargo plane flew the remains from Tarawa atoll in the remote Pacific island nation of Kiribati to Hawaii on Wednesday. Marines carried flag-draped caskets off the plane for a ceremony. The remains are among those discovered in March by History Flight, a nonprofit organization that searches for the remains of U.S. servicemen lost in past conflicts. They are believed to belong to Marines and sailors from the 6th Marine Regiment who were killed during the last night of the three-day Battle of Tarawa. More than 6,000 Americans, Japanese and Koreans died in the battle. 🗿

Chinese state media reports that an explosion has occurred at a gas factory in central China. State broadcaster CCTV reported that the blast took place in Sanmenxia, Henan province, at around 5:50 pm. Windows were shattered within 1.9 miles of the blast, and some doors inside buildings were toppled. No further details were reported, and the possibility of casualties was unclear. 💥🔥😱

Iran 'confiscates' British tanker with 23 crew on board 'for failing to respect maritime rules' in major escalation of tensions in the Gulf - as fears mount for SECOND 'diverted' vessel. Iran has seized a British-registered oil tanker with 23 crew in the Strait of Hormuz.
A second British-owned vessel is also feared to have been captured by Iranian forces.The Stena Impero was passing through the bottle neck into the Persian Gulf when it turned dramatically to the north at 4pm, UK time. The vessel was surrounded by heavily-armed small craft and a helicopter and ordered to turn north. A second oil tanker, the British-operated, Liberian-flagged Mesdar, turned sharply north towards Iran's coast around the same time the Stena Impero was seized. Iranian authorities have yet to comment on the Mesdar, but marine tracking data showed it turning dramatically off course and towards the Iranian coast. 🚢
