Today is the first day of #WildfirePreparednessWeek. Being ready for wildfire goes beyond our own homes. Community involvement can make all the difference if a wildfire strikes. https://www.readyforwildfire.org/, https://cafiresafecouncil.org/, https://www.nfpa.org/ or https://www.ready.gov/wildfires.

One day after becoming operational for peak fire activity, CAL FIRE's Fresno Air Attack Base dispatched and reloaded a C-130H to support the Springs Fire. With additional support from Porterville Air Attack Base, Tanker 122 delivered nearly 15,000 gallons of fire retardant.

Thanks to the swift action of our air and ground crews, the fire’s forward rate of spread has been stopped. Containment is now at 85%.  The C130H aircraft are crucial for wildfire suppression, offering the capability to deliver large volumes of retardant in a single flight, thereby slowing fire progression and safeguarding communities and natural resources.

During this #WildfirePreparednessWeek, we emphasize that your preparedness is equally essential. Develop an evacuation plan, establish defensible space around your residence, prepare a go-bag, and register for emergency alerts.
