🇺🇸 U.S. anti-abortion priest Frank Pavone defrocked by Vatican for ‘blasphemous communications’

Frank Pavone, a leading U.S. Catholic voice against abortion and founder of the group Priests for Life, has been defrocked on direct orders from the Vatican for disobeying his superiors and “blasphemous” comments on social media.

Archbishop Christophe Pierre, the Vatican’s papal nuncio and chief diplomatic representative in the U.S., revealed the decision on Mr. Pavone in a letter to U.S. Catholic bishops. It says the move was made Nov. 9 and there was no avenue for appeal.

One of the denounced Pavone’s actions is posting a video of an aborted fetus placed on the altar on social media.

He is known to be Trump’s supporter and has been critical of Biden’s administration and other Democratic politicians who promote abortion rights.

That is quite an unexpected Vatican’s move that would probably pave the way for further discussion.

🇺🇸 Texas school district that removed LGBTQ+ books faces federal probe

The U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights is opening an investigation into Granbury Independent School District in Texas after the superintendent ordered that school libraries remove any books dealing with LGBTQ+ topics in January.

“I acknowledge that there are men that think they’re women and there are women that think they’re men,” Superintendent Jeremy Glenn said at the meeting with district librarians then. “I don’t have any issues with what people want to believe, but there’s no place for it in our libraries.”

As a result, 130 titles were taken off library shelves. Later, a committee voted to return most of them. This month, it was announced that its Office for Civil Rights would begin investigating the district, which is located near Fort Worth, for possible violation of Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972, a federal law banning sex discrimination in education.
