The red Vauxhall Corsa was left upside down in the road (pictured) after it flipped over in Long Eaton, Derbyshire, yesterday. The woman and 18-month-old child were taken to hospital while the unnamed driver was arrested, police in Derbyshire said. The vehicle had been carrying false number plates and failed to stop in the town centre. It hit five other vehicles, including a collision with a Mitsubishi L200 Warrior in Tamworth Road which flipped the Corsa over. The driver was then seen leaping into a nearby canal, Derbyshire Roads Policing Unit said on Twitter. Police said there had been no injuries but said the driver had been detained and urged witnesses to come forward.
