A system moving across the Southern Plains will bring rain and thunderstorms before spreading into the lower Mississippi Valley Friday and then the Gulf Coast states and Southeast this weekend. Lake effect snow is up and running this weekend again for cities downwind of Lake Ontario and Lake Erie. The Northwest is about to get active again with several systems ushering in rain along the coast and mountain snow. This energy will push into parts of Northern and Central California and the Rockies. Gusty winds also have prompted wind advisories for Oregon and Northern California.

BREAKING! UK -- South Wales Police say officers are responding to a "serious" incident in Treorchy involving a 'number' of casualties. Officers were called to Baglan Street in Treorchy in the Rhondda Valley at around midday. The street has been closed off and people have been warned to avoid the area. It is not clear what exactly has happened but Chris Bryant, Labour MP for Rhondda, said he is aware of "disturbing events on Baglan Street" and said his thoughts go out to all those affected. In a statement, South Wales Police said: "Police units are currently dealing with a serious incident which occurred in Baglan Street, Treorchy, at approximately midday today. "Ambulance crews are also in attendance as the incident involves a number of casualties," SKY News reported.

UPDATE: UK, South Wales -- ONE person is feared dead and there are multiple casualties after a knifeman's stabbing rampage in a Chinese takeaway. A huge emergency response is underway in Ynyswen, near Treorchy, Rhondda Cynon Taf, south Wales as the public were warned to "stay away". One man was feared dead and several others left fighting for their lives after the attack in Ynyswen, Rhondda, South Wales. Eyewitnesses said the village restaurant was "covered in blood" and more than 30 emergency vehicles were at the scene. The victims were flown to hospital by air ambulance and police confirmed they were dealing with a multiple stabbing incident, the Sun reported.

UPDATE: NYPD -- 8 injured, including 2 kids, after van slams into car, outdoor dining area, scaffolding in Midtown. A driver was taken into custody after at least eight people, including two children, were injured during a crash in Manhattan that caused damage to an outdoor dining area and scaffolding Friday morning. The van collided with a black sedan, which then struck an unoccupied outdoor seating area, authorities said. Debris from the collision injured two children, ages 5 and 7, police said. The van continued on, where it then struck a scaffolding with three vendors under it, including a fruit stand, police said. The driver of the van was taken into custody with charges pending, police said. FDNY responders have secured the scaffolding and debris, authorities said. All injured victims were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Video surveillance from Blank Slate shows part of the crash, with the white van striking part of an outdoor dining area.
