Police said 39-year-old Jose Alfredo Castro-Gutierrez was shot and killed after officers responded to the 300 block of South Pardee Street just before 5 a.m. on Monday over reports of a violent disturbance involving a weapon. According to SDPD, Castro-Gutierrez was staying at a home as a guest when the residents were woken up by him. He had reportedly been acting paranoid and ripped a metal curtain rod from a window and began breaking windows and other objects in the home. Manchester, TN – Manchester Police Department (MPD) Captain Christopher “Chris” Patterson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound on Oct. 16. The 42-year-old captain’s body was discovered inside his truck on Blue Creek Road. Police confirmed early in the investigation that no foul play was suspected.Following an autopsy on Sunday, Coffee County Sheriff Chad Partin confirmed that Capt. Patterson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, WTVF reported. “It is with a heavy heart we announce the passing of a brother officer, Captain Chris Patterson of the Manchester Police Department,” the Coffee County Sheriff’s Department (CCSD) said in a Facebook post on Oct. 17. “Our condolences to his family as well as his work family. You all are in our thoughts and prayers.” Capt. Patterson served the MPD for over 10 years, and was third in command at the time of his death. #RIP

Santa Ana police investigating a child molestation case shot and killed a man during a struggle for a handgun at an apartment complex in Fountain Valley. Santa Ana officers went to an apartment in the 10300 block of La Hacienda Avenue at about 10:50 p.m. Monday to contact a man in connection with the investigation, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna. The man’s mother opened the door and let police inside. At that point, the man tried to flee, Bertagna said. Officers chased the man and noticed he was carrying a gun, according to Bertagna. There apparently was a struggle for the weapon, at which point police opened fire, striking the man at least once, authorities said. (Read the Full Story.) #shooting

Motorcade Escort of Fallen Sgt. Harold L. Preston. On Friday, October 23, 2020, at approximately 2 p.m., Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo, HPD commanders and officers escorted the body of fallen Sergeant Harold L. Preston from the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences to the Lockwood Funeral Home. On Tuesday (October 20) about 8:05 a.m., Sergeant Preston, 65, was responding to a call at 2626 Holly Hall when he was fatally shot. He was sworn in as an HPD officer on April 23, 1979. During his career, Sergeant Preston was also assigned to the Northeast Patrol, Jail and North Patrol Divisions, in addition to his recent assignment at the Southwest Patrol Division. COMMERCE, Calif. - It may be fall, but Christmas is right around the corner. The tallest Christmas Tree in Los Angeles arrived at the Citadel Outlets on Friday. The 65-year old white fir was cut from a private tree farm in Shasta-Trinity Forest and then hoisted by a crane onto a truck. It’s a 650-mile journey to the mall, and the tree is so large, it had to be transported overnight so it didn’t jam freeway traffic. Victor Serrao, President of Victor's Custom Christmas Trees says selecting the tree wasn’t easy. and that they wanted to make sure it fit perfectly in a huge space. "It will be 100-foot tall, it’s got a nice color, the width at the bottom will probably be about 28 feet at the base, the trunk diameter is about 30 inches, and it will weigh about 15,000 pounds. Decorated, it’s about 25,000 pounds," he said.

Garden Grove police fatally shot a person in Garden Grove on Thursday afternoon, officials said. The #shooting took place about 3:40 p.m. in the 10000 block of Bolsa Avenue, Garden Grove Police Department Lt. Carl Whitney told KTLA. It occurred as Garden Grove police detectives were conducting an investigation in the neighboring city. A person, initially described only as male, was struck by gunfire, officials said. Police released no information Thursday regarding the circumstances leading up to the police shooting, or what prompted officers to open fire. The person was pronounced dead, Orange County District Attorney Todd Spitzer said via social media. No further details were immediately available.
