Authorities in Wauwatosa, Wis., arrested protesters Sunday night they accused of disobeying the city’s 7 p.m. curfew that has been in place after several nights of unrest, a report said. The Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel reported that police in the city declared an unlawful assembly. The report said protesters were chanting and calling for justice for Alvin Cole. Milwaukee County District Attorney John Chisholm said evidence showed Cole fled from police carrying a stolen 9 mm handgun. He cited squad car audio evidence, along with testimony from Mensah and two fellow officers, that he said showed Cole had fired a shot while fleeing and refused commands to drop the gun. SAN DIEGO - A suspicious U.S. Customs and Border Protection agent, who decided extra scrutiny was needed for a truck that was supposed to contain a shipment of medical supplies on Friday, was responsible for discovering more than 3,100 pounds of methamphetamine, fentanyl and other illegal substances – the second-largest ever bust of its kind along the southwest border, a report said. The drugs, which were discovered at the Otay Mesa Port of Entry, in San Diego, were found in a truck that pulled into the commercial side of the border crossing, NewsNow Las Vegas reported Sunday evening. CPB officers, using the port’s imaging system, found suspicious materials in the rear of the trailer, the report said. The trailer was sent to the dock and a canine alerted them to the boxes inside. The shipment was unloaded before CPB discovered 1,816 packages co-mingled with the medical supplies. Included in the haul was approximately 3,014 pounds of methamphetamine, 64 pounds of heroin, 29 pounds of fentanyl powder and almost 37 pounds of fentanyl pills, worth an estimated $7.2 million, the official said.

Asteroid' nearing Earth's orbit may be old NASA rocket. The jig may be up for an “asteroid” that’s expected to get nabbed by Earth’s gravity and become a mini-moon next month. Instead of a cosmic rock, the newly discovered object appears to be an old rocket from a failed moon-landing mission 54 years ago that’s finally making its way back home, according to NASA’s leading asteroid expert. Observations should help nail its identity. “I’m pretty jazzed about this,” Paul Chodas told the Associated Press. “It’s been a hobby of mine to find one of these and draw such a link, and I’ve been doing it for decades now.” Chodas speculates that asteroid 2020 SO, as it is formally known, is actually the Centaur upper-rocket stage that successfully propelled NASA’s Surveyor 2 lander to the moon in 1966 before it was discarded. The lander ended up crashing into the moon after one of its thrusters failed to ignite on the way there. The rocket, meanwhile, swept past the moon and into orbit around the sun as intended junk, never to be seen again — until perhaps now. A telescope in Hawaii last month discovered the mystery object heading our way while doing a search intended to protect our planet from doomsday rocks. The object was promptly added to the International Astronomical Union’s Minor Planet Center’s tally of asteroids and comets found in our solar system, which is now just 5,000 shy of the 1 million mark.
