A Black man in Texas whose arrest garnered national attention after White mounted police officers were seen leading him by rope is now suing the city of Galveston and its police department for $1 million. Donald Neely, 44, suffers from mental illness and was homeless at the time when he was arrested for criminal trespassing at the Park Board of Galveston on Aug. 3, 2019, the Houston Chronicle reported. Two officers "clipped" a rope to his handcuffs and led him through downtown streets to a mounted patrol staging area, the Galveston Police Department said in a statement shortly after the arrest. A transport unit wasn’t immediately available at the time. A lawsuit filed in Galveston County court last week by Julie Ketterman, a Houston-based attorney, argues the two officers “knew or should have believed that Neely -- being a Black man -- being led with a rope and by mounted officers down a city street as though he was a slave, would find this contact offensive.”

The information presented with this video is based on evidence collected at the scene, interviews of the involved officers, interviews of the subject's associates, and interviews of over fifteen civilian witnesses. On October 2nd, 2020 the Lower Columbia Major Crimes Team (LCMCT) was activated to investigate an officer involved shooting incident involving the Longview Police Department. The LCMCT is comprised of investigators from Cowlitz County law enforcement agencies and serves as an Independent Investigation Team for the region, following the guidelines of Washington Administrative Code 139-12. Staff at a Sydney prison have been honoured with bravery awards after rescuing two inmates from a fire that blazed through their cell.Тхрее prison officers from Mary Wade Correctional Centre at Lidcombe received the Commissioner’s Commendation for Brave Conduct today, for their actions during the incident on 12 June. Corrective Services NSW Commissioner Peter Severin said the actions of Immediate Action Team officers Andrew Boan, Geoffrey Ronayne and Fraser Leavasa were heroic. In the days after the fire, the officers were asked by inmates to attend one of the wings where they were given a standing ovation and handmade greeting cards of praise and gratitude. It is rare for inmates to give thank-you cards to officers.

Just then a bottle is thrown at officers, and one officer fires pepper balls in the direction of the crowd. The edited video shows only a few minutes of footage from a long night of protests.

The search for a missing woman came to an end after officers found her body in the trunk of a parked car in South LA. A murder investigation is now underway to find the person responsible for her death. 23-year-old Mikeona Laticia Johnson had been missing for a week, but that search ended Wednesday when a body was found in a vehicle in the Gramercy Park area of South Los Angeles. Detectives were sent to the 1800 block of West 95th Street, near Jesse Owens Park, around 12:15 p.m. after receiving a call about a strange odor coming from a car. Investigators say they questioned her boyfriend and released him as he is not a suspect in the case. Officials say their investigation is ongoing.

On October 4, 2020, Deputy Elliott responded to a residence in reference to a call about a disturbance. When he arrived to check on the individuals at the location, Geoffrey Gomm (DOB: 10/21/83) punched a window from inside the residence. Deputy Elliott remained persistent and attempted to communicate with Gomm as he exited the residence while trying not to escalate Gomm’s erratic behavior. Gomm resisted Deputy Elliot’s attempts to calm him down and speak with him, then entered his own vehicle. Geoffrey then made his poorest decision of the day (possibly of the year) when he rammed his vehicle into Deputy Elliott’s patrol car, (which luckily was unoccupied).
