#SDPD released video On August 8, 2018. at approximately 5:11 p.m., San Diego Police received a 911 call reporting an assault with a machete. Officer Corey Pitts responded to the call and advised dispatch he was making contact with a person matching the description of the suspect. As Pitts was getting out of his vehicle, Denham ran up to the car and swung a four-foot long metal chain striking Pitts' police car. Pitts got out of the car and ordered Denham to drop the chain. Denham refused and began walking towards Pitts while swinging the chain. Pitts deployed his Taser, which was ineffective in stopping Denham. As Denham continued to close the distance between he and Pitts, Pitts fired two rounds from his duty weapon striking Denham. Denham was transported to a local hospital wh ere he succumbed to his injuries. 🔫👮🏻‍♂️ #shooting

#SDPD release video of #shooting amid protest, calls for transparency. Four video clips, captured by the body-worn cameras of two officers who shot Ibarra, a streetlight camera and a security camera. Two uniformed officers noticed Ibarra exiting a building and recognized him from a recent wanted flier on a robbery because of distinctive tattoos on his face, the news release said. When they attempted to contact Ibarra, he drew a firearm and pointed it at one of the officers, prompting them to fire their weapons. The department did not release the names of the two officers and said no other officers were involved. Investigators from the SDPD’s homicide unit were called to the scene, the news release said.

Warning: The footage contains graphic imagery and language. The San Diego Police Department released officer-worn camera footage from a deadly police #shooting Thursday in City Heights. Police say the man aimed what was believed to be a firearm in the direction of officers and refused commands to drop it and step away. The weapon was later determined to be an Air-Soft gun #SDPD said the video shows the man refusing orders to back away from a handgun that he had dropped on the ground, and picking it up and aiming it at officers. The gun was later determined to be an Air-Soft gun, SDPD said. Video recorded by a witness in a nearby home shows the man pointing the gun in the direction of officers while refusing orders to drop it. (Read more.)
