Portland police clear protesters out of park near federal courthouse
A videographer who was knifed in the back during protests in downtown Portland claims he was targeted because of his conservative activism. Shocking video captured the moment Andrew Duncomb, 25, was stabbed while he was out filming footage of protests by Portland's Mark O Hatfield federal courthouse early Saturday morning. Duncomb, who is black and a vocal supporter of President Donald Trump, told Oregon Live he had traveled to the city from Northern California because he wanted to offer a more complete view of the situation than what has been portrayed in the mainstream media.
Coastal flooding is set to rise by around 50 per cent globally due to climate change in the next 80 years, a new study predicts. UK and Australian researchers conducted climate change scenarios where carbon dioxide concentrations in the atmosphere continue to rise rapidly. They found the associated flooding, due to the melting of polar ice, would endanger millions of people and cost more than £10 trillion. Land exposed to extreme flooding will increase by more than 96,500 square miles globally – up 48 per cent or more than 308,000 square miles from today. This would mean about 77 million more people will be at risk of experiencing flooding – a rise of 52 per cent to 225 million at the very least. The areas predicted to be most impacted by flooding are north-west Europe, south-east and east Asia, north-east US and northern Australia, they found. The study has been published in Scientific Reports. #science
Three Ohio children were among five family members found dead in a home early Wednesday, an incident police are investigating as an apparent murder-suicide. Officers in Elyria, a city about 30 miles west of Cleveland, responded to the home around 8:11 a.m. to conduct a welfare check, the department said in a press release. Five bodies were found inside. Investigators determined the deceased were all family members. While police have not released what caused their deaths, FOX8 Cleveland spoke with sources who said detectives are investigating it as an apparent murder-suicide. The three children were all siblings, Elyria City Schools said in a statement on Facebook. They were between the ages of 6 and 12.

Three Chicago police officers were shot Thursday morning while taking a violent carjacking suspect into custody outside a police station on the city’s West Side. The suspect also was shot after the gunfire erupted around 9:40 a.m. in the Belmont Cragin neighborhood outside the 25th District police station, Chicago Police Supt. David Brown said. The suspect fired multiple gunshots at police during the arrest, Brown said, striking several officers. One officer suffered a gunshot wound to his chin and neck, and also was hit in his bulletproof vest, Brown said. A second officer was struck in the vest. A third officer suffered a gunshot wound to his hip. Two other officers suffered chest pains and were hospitalized. The first officer was rushed to Illinois Masonic Medical Center. Dr. Stephen Kingsley, a trauma surgeon, told reporters the officer was given a breathing tube and doctors were working to stabilize him. The four other officers were being treated at Loyola Hospital, Brown said.
Two Pittsburgh Police motorcycle officers with the Special Deployment Division were involved in a collision on Route 837 in White Oak, PA just before 11:40 a.m. The officers were part of a security detail protecting Vice-President Mike Pence’s motorcade while the Vice-President was visiting the area. Both officers were treated in the hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the collision is being investigated. The crash comes after a separate minor collision involving a bus in the motorcade.

NASA's Perseverance mission launched today and will collect at least 20 rock samples from the surface of Mars. But engineers have already set their eyes on how these samples, which will be stored on the Martian surface, will be returned to Earth. The European Space Agency has revealed that Airbus-France will be in charge of building the Earth Return Orbiter (ERO) satellite, which will retrieve the samples. It is believed that they will be delivered back to Earth in 2031.

The Phoenix Police Department released video includes body cam footage from an officer-involved #shooting that happened in our community on May 29, 2020. Officers responded to a 911 call about a man manipulating the slide of a gun outside a liquor store. As police tracked down the man, he fired the weapon toward them while trying to enter a home. TRENTON, New Jersey -- Three Trenton teens will be charged with attempted murder and related firearms charges for shooting at police officers during an early Wednesday vehicle chase that went through two towns, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s Office alleged. The pursuit ended in two collisions, injuring a total of six officers. Three remained hospitalized Wednesday evening, and one, Officer Kevin Starkey, is in critical condition. 🙏🏼💙 Also injured in the crashes were the three suspects: Zaire Butler, 19, who suffered internal injuries and remains hospitalized in critical condition; Nazere Crews, 18, who broke his femur and also remains hospitalized; and a 16-year-old male who had a broken wrist, and was treated and released to police custody, the office said.
