A woman in Colorado was able to walk away from a bear attack that left her back clawed up. Colorado Parks and Wildlife said the sow, which was with two cubs, attacked the woman Thursday night in Manitou Springs, west of Colorado Springs. The sow was euthanized Saturday, according to officials. The woman told officials she was walking home from work around 11:40 p.m. when she encountered an adult bear on the street who charged at her. "As the victim turned to try to escape, the bear knocked her down from behind, scratching her back and ripping her shirt," Parks and Wildlife said. The woman suffered three long scratches down her back, but was not seriously injured and did not seek medical attention. The woman also sustained cuts to her hands and legs when she fell. Minutes later, another person was also chased by a bear on the same block just south of downtown Manitou Springs. The person was able to get away by running around a parked vehicle.

Eleven people were treated for "non-life-threatening injuries," said Krishna Jackson, the base's public information officer, without providing further details. The cause of the fire was under investigation. Jackson didn't know where on the 840-foot amphibious assault vessel the explosion and the fire occurred. U.S. Pacific Fleet Naval Surface Forces tweeted that 18 sailors "have been transferred to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries," adding that 160 were on board at the time of the explosion. Jackson had estimated that about 200 sailors and officers were on board Sunday morning, which is fewer than if the ship was on active duty.

UPD: At least 21 people suffered minor injuries on Sunday after an explosion and fire broke out on the USS Bonhomme Richard at Naval Base San Diego, military officials said. "Seventeen Sailors and four civilians are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. All inport ships have been contacted and directed to provide fire parties to possibly assist with firefighting efforts," the Navy said in a statement.

Mike Gilday released a statement Sunday night, saying: "Today, we suffered a terrible tragedy aboard USS Bonhomme Richard (LHD 6) when a fire broke out aboard the ship while in port San Diego. At this point, 17 Sailors and four civilians are being treated for non-life-threatening injuries at a local hospital. The remainder of the crew is accounted for. We are grateful for the quick and immediate response of local, base and shipboard firefighters aboard USS Bonhomme Richard. Our thoughts and prayers are with our BHR Sailors, their families and our emergency responders who continue to fight the fire. Godspeed."

Oregonlive reported that he suffered skull fractures and needed surgery.

USA Today, ESPN, The Washington Post, Washington Times and Sports Business Journal reported Sunday night that owner Dan Snyder is set to “retire” the name. Washington won’t announce its new name because trademark issues are still pending. However, the “thorough review” of the name is officially over because the team wanted to “remove any doubts as to the future of the name,” Sports Business Journal, citing sources. It’s unclear when a new name will be revealed for the team. The team launched the review of the name July 3 after prominent sponsors FedEx, Nike, PepsiCo and Bank of America asked the team to change the name.
