The bear barely had a chance. But when a boating family encountered a young bear black struggling to stay afloat with a plastic jug stuck on its head in the middle of Marsh-Miller Lake in Wisconsin Saturday, they pulled up alongside it, removed the jar and watched it safely swim ashore. Tricia Hurt posted video of the incident to Facebook. She and her family found the critter with what was described as a cheese ball tub stuck on its head as it pawed its away across relatively calm water.
Police in Portland, Ore., declared a disturbance to be a “riot” on Tuesday night as they tried to break up a crowd of demonstrators. Law enforcement officers used CS gas – a type of tear gas – in bid to restore order, while a limit on the ability of police to use the substance was in effect, FOX 12 of Oregon reported. “If you do not disperse to the east you are subject to arrest or use of force, to include crowd control munitions,” Portland police wrote on Twitter. The area was close to a Portland Police Association building, the report said. Several rioters were seen being arrested.

FLORIDA — The woman shot in the face with a rubber bullet by a Fort Lauderdale police officer addressed a congressional subcommittee Monday over video conference.
Seattle police have begun clearing out the protest area known as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest, or CHOP, making more than a dozen arrests after Mayor Jenny Durkan declared the gathering an unlawful assembly. Police issued the order to disperse around 5 a.m. local time Wednesday, telling protesters to leave within eight minutes. At least 13 protesters have been arrested so far for failing to clear the area after multiple warnings. As officers in riot gear performed the predawn sweep to clear holdouts from the streets, police said a woman apparently went into labor on the east side of Cal Anderson Park inside the CHOP. Seattle Fire said it was responding to the scene. Police were also investigating several vehicles circling the CHOP zone after officers saw people inside them carrying firearms and wearing body armor. The vehicles had no visible license plates.
