A fast-moving wildfire in a north Phoenix neighborhood forced the evacuation of hundreds of homes as several fires continue to burn through Arizona. Arizona State Forestry said on Twitter that firefighters stopped forward progress of a blaze after it burned through about 900 acres. As of Wednesday morning, officials said the blaze was only 5 percent contained. One primary structure and at least 10 outbuildings are confirmed lost. One home could be seen burning in helicopter video taken by FOX10 over the scene. More than 200 homes were under evacuation notices, including the Joy Ranch subdivision. The biggest fire burning in the country, the Bush Fire northeast of Phoenix, is now 73 percent contained, according to the InciWeb incident information system.

The central portion of California was rattled by an earthquake Wednesday that caused lights to sway in homes and people to be jolted awake. The United States Geological Survey (USGS) said the quake had a preliminary magnitude of 6.0 before downgrading it to 5.8. The temblor jolted the area around 10:40 a.m. local time and had an epicenter of about 10 miles south-southeast of Lone Pine, Calif. Lone Pine is located between Sequoia National Park and Death Valley National Park. The earthquake on Wednesday was shallow, nearly two miles underground, according to the USGS. After the initial quake, there were also smaller aftershocks reported of 3.6, 3.1 and 2.5. Residents across the region reported shaking after the quake.

A white female protester was filmed yelling in the faces of two black male police officers in Washington, D.C., Tuesday in a viral video that has been viewed more than 2.1 million times, telling them that "they're a part of the problem." The video was tweeted by Henry Rodgers, a senior congressional correspondent for The Daily Caller, who has been covering protests in the nation's capital since the death of George Floyd in Minneapolis on May 25. “Why don’t you take off your uniform? Are you afraid of police?” the white woman, wearing a baseball cap and facial covering, yells at two black officers in a police line stretching across the street in the newly renamed Black Lives Matter plaza. Rodgers, who is filming the altercation, interjects: “I have a question for you. You’re white and you’re telling this to two black police officers? Don’t you see the problem with that a little bit?”

#NASCAR driver Bubba Wallace thanked the #FBI for investigating what was reported to be a noose hanging from his garage stall at Talladega Superspeedway over the weekend, saying he's relieved, and admittedly embarrassed, that it turned out to be an innocent door pull rather than a racist symbol. 'It’s been an emotional few days,' Wallace said in a Wednesday afternoon statement. The FBI announced that its investigation into the matter revealed that no hate crime had taken place, but that the rope - which appeared to be tied into a loop or noose - had been in that stall as early as 2019. A Youtube video from 2019 showed a similar pull rope hanging from the garage door in the same stall used by Wallace and his team over the weekend. At the time the video was taken, that specific stall was being used by a white driver, Paul Menard. Other videos from previous years revealed that the garage door ropes - or 'pulls' as they're called - were often tied into similar loops as early as 2016.
