At least 600 law enforcement officers injured since George Floyd riots began
VERO BEACH, Florida -- Shoplifting at a Indian River County Walmart turned deadly when the robber sent a deputy on a parking lot chase, shooting a mother and father and then eventually killing himself, the Officer reported. On Tuesday, Indian River County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shoplifting call at a Vero Beach Walmart. Deputies stopped the man in the parking lot and then he pulled out a gun and started firing at them. He ran through the parking lot and tried to carjack a family, who had two children in the back seat. The man shot into the car, hitting the mother and father, deputies say. The family fled as the man continued on to carjacking a second car with a woman inside. As the man sped through the parking lot, deputies pursued, dash cam footage shows. He came to a stop at a dead end and pointed a gun at the deputy who was pursing him. Both the man and the deputy shot at each other. Deputies did not release his name. #shooting
Two men wanted in connection with multiple recent shootings were arrested after they fled from authorities, raced at speeds of 100 mph on Interstate 4 and eventually crashed into a detective’s vehicle, according to the Volusia County Sheriff’s Office. Deputies said the incident began Thursday evening in Deltona as they were conducting surveillance on driver Rayon Rattigan, 30, and passenger Jahqwane Tyson, 19. Both men were identified as suspects in shootings, but a news release didn’t provide details on those incidents. According to the footage, the car got off the interstate at State Road 46 in Seminole County. It was in that area that the T-bone crash occurred. Detective Don Maxwell, who was in the unmarked vehicle involved in the crash, suffered minor injuries and has since been released from a hospital. Rattigan and Tyson have also been medically cleared, records show.
