A Detroit suburb city commissioner has been asked to resign for allegedly failing to keep six feet apart during a massive protest last week against Michigan Gov. Gretchen Whitmer’s controversial social distancing measures amid the coronavirus pandemic. Dubbed “Operation Gridlock” and organized by the Michigan Conservative Coalition, the protest Wednesday created bumper-to-bumper traffic throughout downtown Lansing as demonstrators blasted their horns, waved Americans flags and hoisted placards demanding Whitmer reopen the state’s economy. Though most people remained in their cars, trucks and SUVs, some protesters got out of their vehicles to march by the state Capitol building. In photographs, as well as footage broadcast by Fox 2 Detroit, Royal Oak City Commissioner Kim Gibbs can be seen wearing a distinct red coat while walking alongside a group of demonstrators holding signs calling for an end to lockdown measures. #facepalm

A disagreement “of some kind” led to a shooting in an apparent murder-suicide that left three men dead inside a Studio City home, authorities said Saturday. Officers responded to 11030 Aqua Vista St. after receiving a call about shots fired and a “screaming man” just after 11 p.m. Friday. They arrived to find three people who had been fatally shot. Investigators later learned that Phana Subpramoon shot a relative, 69-year-old Jaturong Siriprasir, and 67-year-old Joseph Marcott, multiple times in a bedroom. Subpramoon, 47, then went to the living room and turned the weapon on himself. #LAPD urged anyone with information about the case to call Detective Steve Castro at 818-374-1925. Those who wish to remain anonymous can call 800-222-TIPS (8477) or text that number with the message LAPD 274637 (CRIMES). People can also submit an anonymous tip on LAPDonline.org.
