Over 200 Riot Police on Guard as Citizens Gather to Commemorate the 7th month of 8.31 Police Attack of Civilians

19:55 | Yau Ma Tei

Today is the 7th month of the Police attack of train passengers at Prince Edward Station on August 31, 2019. Many civilians went to Prince Edward metro station to present flowers to mourn the victims of police violence.

The police seemed to feel agitated even by a memorial activities. A large number of police were stationed along the Nathan Road from Mong Kok to Prince Edward, intercepting young people on the street.

Combining various sources, there were more than 200 riot police in Prince Edward District alone, not to mention many other plainclothes officers.

New York state now has 75,795 cases of coronavirus - an increase of 9,298 since Monday - and 1550 have died, Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed on Tuesday as he admitted 'no one knows' when the pandemic will end and said the entire country 'underestimated it'. Speaking at a wide-ranging press conference on Tuesday, Gov. Cuomo told of how he was unifying the state's private and public healthcare systems to operate as one before the pandemic 'apex' in the state hits. He admitted he does not know when it will come and that data projections he looks at suggest it could happen anytime between seven and 21 days from now. The death toll across the state of New York rose by 332 overnight and is not yet showing signs of slowing down.

Dr. Tony Fauci painted a grim picture for Americans on Tuesday, warning that people should be prepared for 100,000 deaths from the coronavirus. 'The answer is yes - as sobering a number as that is, we should be prepared for it,' he said when asked about the six-figure mark during the daily White House press briefing. 'Is it going to be that much? I hope not and I think the more we push on the mitigation the less likely to be that number but, being realistic, we need to prepare ourselves that is a possibility that that's what we'll see.'

The 4,000 sailors aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt are to be evacuated from the nuclear warship a week after at least 25 positive cases of coronavirus were identified on board and the ship was forced to dock in Guam. Acting Navy Secretary Thomas Modly said Tuesday that the Navy is working with the captain of the ship, its medical officer and the government in Guam to bring the sailors to shore as quickly as possible but there currently not enough beds available. The announcement came after a letter from the ship's captain Brett Crozier pleaded with the Pentagon to let the bulk of its 4,000-person crew off the warship so they can quarantine safely, warning that 'sailors do not need to die'.
A record-breaking 381 coronavirus deaths and 3,009 cases were declared in the UK today, which is now officially Britain's darkest day so far in the ever-worsening crisis. Some 1,789 patients who tested positive for COVID-19 have now died, while the total infection toll has surpassed 25,000 - but the true size of the outbreak remains a mystery because of the UK's controversial policy to only test patients in hospital. The number of new deaths recorded today is twice as high as the 180 victims recorded yesterday. But there was only a 14 per cent jump in daily cases - up from 2,619.
A 2,000-foot underground tunnel connecting Tijuana, Mexico, and San Diego, and a massive haul of drugs worth $29.6million was discovered, the Drug Enforcement Agency revealed on Tuesday. The DEA said agents on the San Diego Tunnel Task Force made the tunnel discovery March 19 before reaching out to Mexican authorities for additional support. The tunnel was built by a transnational cartel and extended from Tijuana, Mexico, to the Otay Mesa area of San Diego. 'I'm proud of the excellent work performed by Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) agents, as well as U.S. Border Patrol and Drug Enforcement Administration agents as integrated partners of the San Diego Tunnel Task Force. Their tenacity made the difference in shutting down this tunnel,' said Cardell T. Morant, Acting Special Agent in Charge of HSI San Diego.

The โ€œromanticโ€ trip to Paris is a thing of the past. This is soon to be all of Europe unless the people shake this fear of being called โ€œxenophobicโ€ and nationalism rises again.
