(WARNING: 21+) The Denton Police Department released body camera footage from the Jan. 21 officer-involved shooting that claimed the life of University of North Texas student Darius Tarver. Denton Police Chief Frank Dixon said he wanted to present the facts to the public because he couldn’t let false and inaccurate information continue to spread, of which he said during a press conference Thursday. In the 13-minute-long video, edited to show four officers’ body camera footage, Dixon walked news media through the incident from when they arrived at an apartment building landing, to making contact with University of North Texas student Darius Tarver and to his death. #shooting
(WARNING: 21+) Newly released video (three bodycam) shows events leading up to a January 6th incident where the suspect shot a police officer before officers returned fire. Officers tried to make contact with the man while he was on his bike in downtown Phoenix, AZ. The man ran from police. When they caught up to him, a struggle ensued, and the suspect pull a gun and shot an officer. The officer was protected by his radio and vest and suffered only minor injuries. Around 70 people were trapped after Xinjia Hotel in Quanzhou City collapsed in China's eastern Fujian province at around 7.30pm (11.30 GMT) on Saturday evening, officials said. Approximately 23 people had been rescued by 9pm, according to a local government statement. The 80-room hotel was recently converted to a quarantine facility for people who had recent contact with coronavirus patients. No reason for the collapse was given. State news agency Xinhua said rescue efforts were ongoing.

Two people in Florida who tested positive for the #coronavirus have died, becoming the first known fatalities outside California and Washington state. Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis issued an order Saturday directing a Level II public health emergency in the state after two people, who were both in their 70s and had traveled overseas died, according to the Florida Department of Health. One of the Floridian deaths was a man with underlying health issues in Santa Rosa County in Florida's Panhandle and the other was an elderly person in Lee County, in the Fort Myers area. As of Saturday morning, eight people in the Sunshine State have tested positive for COVID-19, one of which is a non-resident, officials said.
Greek police have launched tear gas at migrants as Turkish officers fired back at the border crossing where thousands are trying to get into Europe and vigilante groups are plotting to send them home. More clashes erupted Saturday between Greek police and Europe-bound migrants gathered on the Turkey side of a border crossing near the Greek village of Kastanies. Like previous confrontations this week, officers in Greece fired tear gas to impede the crowd and Turkish police fired tear gas back at their Greek counterparts. Journalists saw groups of mostly young men trying to pull down a fence with ropes and throwing rocks at the Greek border forces. Vigilantes were also seen at the border where they shouted 'We'll get you next time!' at a small group of men who had made it over and fled.
