A mother and daughter were brutally attacked by a man on the street who shouted 'this is America' after hearing them speaking in Spanish, prosecutors allege. The incident which took place in Boston on Saturday, February 15 is being investigated as a possible hate crime. Shocking video of the incident released by advocacy group Lawyers for Civil Rights Boston show the mother and daughter being approached by one of the female assailants, who was reportedly shouting 'this is America' and telling them to go back to 'your fucking country'.

A New Mexico police officer saved a choking 11-month-old baby's life after racing through traffic and then administering first aid on the side of a highway. Dashcam video from State Police officer Mario Herrera's vehicle showed him speeding through traffic in Espanola on February 2 after hearing the 911 call from the boy's distraught parents. The parents started immediately driving towards the closest hospital after noticing their son, Elikai, was choking in his car seat. Officer Herrera, who was close by when the frantic call came over his radio, rushed to try and intercept the parents en route to the ER. He signaled for them to pull over on the side of the highway. The dashcam footage showed the officer jumping out of his car and running towards the parents as they quickly removed their son from the car. The officer could be seen placing the little boy over his knee to administer first aid and dislodge whatever was caught in his throat.

(WARNING: 21+) A Nampa Police officer shot a dog that approached him in the line of duty, Idaho. The video shows a woman failing to control two dogs as she answers the officer’s ring of the doorbell. Both dogs exited the house. The dog that was shot appeared to get out while the woman was attempting to hold back the other one. The officer fired his gun within about 4 seconds of the dog leaving the house. The dog appears to run off after being shot. “Why are you letting your dogs attack me?” the officer says to the woman. Later, she tells the officer, “I don’t understand what’s going on. … He doesn’t usually attack people like that.” She added that she was watching the dog for a friend who was in jail. The dog was transported to a veterinarian clinic by a private party after it was located, according to police. #shooting

A search is underway in a North Carolina pond for a 15-month-old toddler who has been missing since December, police confirmed Wednesday. Sullivan County Sheriff Jeff Cassidy told reporters Wednesday that his office is working with state and federal authorities to find Evelyn Mae Boswell. "We remain committed and continue to do everything possible to find out what happened to Evelyn," Cassidy said. "Our main concern right now is finding Evelyn." An Amber Alert was issued for the girl after she was reported missing Feb. 18. That was least seven weeks after what's believed to be the last time she was seen. The girl’s 18-year-old mother, Megan Boswell, and grandmother are now in the same Tennessee jail after giving conflicting accounts about her disappearance.

A Texas man believed to be the former leader of a white supremacist group was arrested Wednesday for allegedly conducting several swatting events in Virginia with plans to call two more in New York, federal prosecutors said. John Cameron Denton, 26, was charged with conspiracy to commit an offense against the United States and interstate threats to injure after he and several other co-conspirators planned multiple “swatting” calls from November 2018 to April 2019, the Department of Justice said in a news release. Prosecutors call swatting a “harassment tactic” that involves calling emergency personnel under the false pretenses that the person involved is in “imminent danger of death or bodily harm.” Prosecutors also allege that Denton planned to target two more entities in New York: ProPublica’s office, a non-profit newsroom that produces investigative journalism, and a reporter who worked there. They claimed he targeted both after they identified and discussed his role in the Atomwaffen Division.

Firefighters in California are about to have a new tool that can battle wildfires from the sky around the clock. The state's fire agency, Cal Fire, is taking delivery of its fleet of 12 brand new S-70i Firehawk helicopters that will allow pilots to drop water over fires at night for the first time. “This is a game-changer,” Cal Fire Deputy Director Mike Mohler told FOX40. The new fleet of helicopters cost $300 million – paid for by the state – and contain what Mohler described as the "latest and greatest" in avionics. The new helicopters, which cost $24 million each, are equipped with more space for up to eight firefighters, a hoisting system and a larger tank for water storage. “This is a thousand gallons compared to just over 300 on our Hueys,” Mohler said.
