The high rise office building set for implosion in Uptown Dallas Sunday morning refused to come down.💥
The 'Leaning Tower of Dallas' has remained standing despite a second attempt to knock it down on Monday. Dozens of people gathered in the center of the Texas city to watch as a crane and wrecking ball were used to batter the former Affiliated Computer Services building from 9am. But the unsightly building was still resembling the wonky stature of Italy's Leaning Tower of Pisa by the afternoon despite many tries at demolishing it with force. The 11-story building had found a second life online after surviving a first demolition attempt. It inspired jokes and comparisons to the iconic European site when a February 18 implosion failed to bring down its core.
The European Union is under mounting pressure to suspend the passport-free Schengen travel zone to stop coronavirus spreading across the continent. Seven deaths and 229 infections in Italy has fanned panic in neighbouring countries and sparked a clamour for governments to clamp down on border checks. The 26 Schengen states - including Italy - have abolished border controls, meaning people can pass seamlessly from country to country. Italy's northern regions of Lombardy and Veneto have suffered the brunt of the nation's outbreak, and have been added to a global list with China, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore and South Korea as coronavirus hotbeds. Some 55,000 residents have been placed under lockdown, with internal police checkpoints, schools shut and public events axed, including the popular Venice carnival. The outbreak rocked Italy's financial markets and by close saw 5.4 per cent wiped off the country's stock exchange.

Harvey Weinstein was taken to Rikers Island prison by ambulance Monday after being found guilty of raping and sexual assaulting two women. The disgraced Hollywood producer, 67, was convicted by a New York jury of sexually assaulting former production assistant Mimi Haleyi in his apartment in 2006 and raping aspiring actress Jessica Mann in a hotel room in 2013. He was acquitted of the two most serious counts of predatory sexual assault, which each carried a potential life sentence. He was also found not guilty of first degree rape in relation to Mann. Weinstein, who arrived at court using a walker for much of the trial, now faces a 29-year prison sentence. When the jury of seven men and five women handed down their verdict after five days of deliberations, Weinstein told his lawyer: 'I'm innocent. I'm innocent. How can this happen in America?' Judge James Burke ordered Weinstein - who appeared to be editing a script just prior to the verdict - to be taken to jail immediately until his sentencing on March 11.

An 11-year-old girl appeared at a gun legislation hearing in Idaho’s capital Monday wearing a loaded AR-15 rifle slung over her shoulder, FOX NEWS reported. The girl, Bailey Nielsen, was accompanied by her grandfather, Charles Nielsen, who spoke to a House panel at the Idaho Statehouse in support of legislation that would allow visitors to Idaho who can legally possess firearms – but not necessarily do – to carry a concealed handgun in urban areas. "Bailey is carrying a loaded AR-15," Charles Nielsen told lawmakers. "People live in fear, terrified of that which they do not understand. She's been shooting since she was 5 years old. She got her first deer with this weapon at 9. She carries it responsibly. She knows how not to put her finger on the trigger. We live in fear in a society that is fed fear on a daily basis." He said Bailey was an example of someone who could responsibly handle a gun and lawmakers should extend that to nonresidents.
