Macron’s government, along with many ordinary French citizens, have made plans to cope with the strike action through the weekend, but may take a different view on Monday, if the disruption extends into a second week. Rail workers voted to extend their strike through Friday, while labor unions at the Paris bus and metro operator RATP said their walkout would continue until Monday. Other trade unionists were due to decide early on Friday how long they would keep up the strike.🔥

Hong Kong’s police chief has urged citizens to demonstrate peacefully ahead of what is expected to be a large-scale pro-democracy march on Sunday, an event planned amid a lull in violence in the Chinese-ruled city, reported Reuters. Police on Thursday gave a rare green light to the demonstration, organized by the Civil Human Rights Front, the group that called the million-strong marches in the summer. Sunday’s march is a key gauge of the pro-democracy movement’s support following its sweeping victory in local elections. Indian police shot dead four men on Friday who were suspected of raping and killing a 27-year-old veterinarian in the southern city of Hyderabad last week, a senior police official told Reuters. The men had been in police custody and were shot near the scene of the crime, said N Prakash Reddy, a deputy commissioner of police in Shamshabad, near Hyderabad. “In the morning, at around 6-6.30, our persons have come to reconstruct the scene of crime and the accused have tried to snatch their weapons, and there was a cross-fire. In this, all the four accused have died. Two policemen have been injured,” Reddy said.

BREAKING NEWS! A shooting at Naval Air Station Pensacola in Florida early this morning left two people dead and several others wounded before the gunman was killed by law enforcement officers. A spokesperson for the Escambia County Sheriff's Office told Pensacola News Journal that shots were fired on base early Friday morning. Just before 8am, the sheriff's office announced the shooter has been killed by deputies.

Shocking video has emerged of a flu-ridden 16-year-old Guatemalan migrant writhing in pain on the floor of a U.S. Border Patrol cell where he lay for several hours before he was found dead. The footage published by ProPublica shows the last hours of Carlos Hernandez Vasquez, who died on May 20. He is one of at least six children to have died since December 2018 after being detained by border agents. Hernandez had been seen smiling and laughing as he illegally crossed the Rio Grande hours before he was detained by US Customs and Border Protection. According to ProPublica, Hernandez staggered to the toilet in his cell in the middle of the night at the Border Patrol station in Weslaco, Texas, and collapsed nearby. He remained still for more than four hours until his cellmate awakened at 6.05am and discovered him on the floor.
