More than 200 activists protested against the presence on officers in the subway system and the #NYPD in Harlem, New York. The demonstrations started near the Harriet Tubman Memorial and marched through Upper Manhattan to the Bronx. At least 58 people are reported to have been arrested as civilians and police officers clashed throughout the night. One video shows a police officer mocking a civilian by allegedly saying, 'if he can yell, he can breathe,' when the man was said 'I can't breathe' when being arrested. This protest follows a similar one held in Brooklyn on November 1. They spawned after viral video showed incidents where MTA officers are accused of using excessive force against passengers. New York Governor Andrew Cuomo announced his plan to add 500 additional police officers to patrol the subway lines. #NY

People were evacuated as Vue cinema managers decided to close the venue. Five teenagers - including a 13-year-old girl - have been arrested by police after they swooped at around 5.30pm. The suspect, William Chase Johnson, 18, is alleged to have been in a stolen vehicle when Williams responded to the scene. Johnson shot Williams and then abandoned the stolen vehicle at the gas station, local authorities told @police_frequency in the Telegram. He is believed to have fled on foot. Reports indicate that Johnson returned to the scene of the crime and surrendered to authorities three hours after the manhunt began. Johnson, who lives in Montgomery, is the son of a law enforcement officer. He has a history of run-ins with the law, including an arrest in August for possessing brass knuckles and being a minor in possession of alcohol. Those charges were later dropped, according to court records.

A new Concorde-style supersonic passenger jet could slash flight times to Australia in half within the next decade. The X-59 Quiet Supersonic Technology aircraft is being built by Lockheed Martin - assisted by NASA - to perfect quiet sonic booms that would allow the plane to go supersonic over land. Concord, which was last flown in 2003, could not fly over land due to a powerful sonic boom that broke the sound barrier. #future
