Bolivia's socialist President Evo Morales announced his resignation shortly after the military called on him to step down amid continued protests following the South American nation's disputed elections. General WIlliams Kaliman said on national television…
A new research report from the Center for Economic and Policy Research (CEPR) analyzes Bolivia’s economic changes since 2006 in the context of the Bolivian government’s main policy decisions. It finds that it has been policy choices, not merely a “commodities boom,” that have been the driving force in Bolivia’s surge to be the fastest-growing economy in South America over the past five years. Strong economic growth has allowed Bolivia to reduce poverty by 42 percent and extreme poverty by 60 percent since President Evo Morales took office in 2006. 📈 Opinion: after the resignation of Evo Morales, Bolivia's economy will fall to the bottom. #lol

More than 100 discarded needle caps were found strewn across Venice Beach in Los Angeles. And even some seemingly used needles were spotted too. The shoreline is known for its problems with drug use and homelessness but it is unclear where the medical supplies came from. The LA Fire Department's Lifeguard Division are continuing to patrol the area during a cleanup. Officials found the medical supplies at 11.30AM yesterday and closed portions of the beach while they scoured the area. #WTF? #LA

Transit cops in the Bay Area were filmed handcuffing a black passenger for eating a sandwich while waiting to board a BART. An officer was seen in the video appearing to grab the man, identified a Steve Foster, and held onto his rucksack as the passenger pleaded to be let go. Foster questioned why he was being detained and not any other passengers waiting at the Pleasant Hill Station in Walnut Creek, California. He can be heard in the footage saying: 'You single me out, out of all these people.' The officer replied by pointing to the sandwich and saying: 'You're eating. It's against the law, it's a violation of California law. I have the right to detain you.' BART said the man was not arrested, despite being handcuffed, and that he only received a $250 citation. 👮🏻♂️

If you own a telescope ... Sky watchers around the world will get the chance to witness a 'rare celestial event' today, as the planet Mercury passes in front of the sun for the first time in 13 years. This event, known as a 'transit', will be visible from nearly everywhere on Earth with the right equipment - depending on cloud cover. The transit starts at 11:35 GMT (04:35 PST) and will last for about 5.5 hours, so there will be plenty of time to catch the show. 🔭

The drunk driver was stopped by the police. At the time of the capture, the driver who drank vodka began to play the balalaika. Guess which country this happened in. Fuck yeah! This is Russia! But where is the bear? 🤪 #LMAO
A Swiss tourist is fighting for his life in hospital after a minibus knocked a fully grown giraffe into the path of his safari camper in South Africa’s famous Kruger National Park. The 18-foot tall giraffe which weighed about 1,650 lbs completely crushed the front of the taxi then smashed in the roof and front of the tourist's specialised Ford Ranger camper. Emergency services raced to the scene near Mopani where an elderly Swiss man was critically injured and who was stabilised and airlifted by helicopter to a hospital in Nelspruit.🦒 #losers
