Incident: Active shooter incident at Silver Rail Elementary School
Date / Time of Incident:  Oct. 15, 2026 / 12:59 p.m. 
Location: Silver Rail Elementary, 61530 SE Stone Creek Lane, Bend 

At approximately 12:59 p.m., Bend Police responded to Silver Rail Elementary on reports of an active shooter. The first call indicated that an unknown man had shot into a car.

In the next minute, Deschutes County Dispatch received multiple 911 calls reporting that a person had entered the school and begun shooting.

Dispatch sent out an alert tone to send all law enforcement to the scene. At 1:02 p.m., Bend Police officers were on the scene. Seconds later, officers reported the suspect had been shot and killed, possibly by a bystander.

At this time, we have confirmed there are multiple victims. At least two people were transported to St. Charles Bend. Their status at this time is not known. Children are among the victims.

Law enforcement is in the process of evacuating each classroom at Silver Rail Elementary. Students are being transported by Bend-La Pine Schools buses to Journey Church, 61303 S Highway 97, for reunification. We ask families and guardians to respond there.

There will be a large law enforcement presence in the area of the school and at Journey Church for the foreseeable future. Please avoid the area.

We know what a very difficult time this is for our community – we are thinking of the families and friends of Silver Rail Elementary and everyone in Bend and beyond who are affected by this terrible tragedy.

LATEST: Three children and one adult were killed in a shooting at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon.

The suspect is also dead. Sources said the shooter was believed to be a teenager or young adult who was killed by a Good Samaritan.

Police said they received a call about a man shooting into a car just before 1 p.m. local time. About a minute later, multiple 911 calls reported that the person had entered the school and started shooting.

Three children and a teacher were killed, and two others were critically wounded, in a shooting on Thursday at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, authorities said.

The suspect, a 16-year-old male, was shot and killed by a bystander, Bend police said.

His duty was keeping us safe and he performed his duty until the very end. To us, K9 Jimi was more than a dog. He was our fellow Deputy. Please keep Sgt. The fire is reported now to be at 400-500 acres with a potential for 1,000. The Las Pulgas Gate is closed to all vehicles except emergency vehicles until further notice.

BREAKING: 77 ARRESTS MADE, 86 WARRANTS CLOSED OVERNIGHT IN PG COUNTY, MARYLAND.

The Prince George’s County Sheriff’s Office apprehended 77 people, while closing 86 warrants during an overnight operation targeting felony and misdemeanor warrants across the county.
The operation began at around 11pm last night and ended at 6am this morning as part of the 23rd annual National Family Violence Apprehension Detail.
The warrants involved a range of offenses, including first- and second-degree assault, stalking, sexual abuse, arson, reckless endangerment, robbery, *rape* and violations of protective orders.
Other warrants closed during the operation involved theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle, malicious destruction of property, *possession of child pornography* and child support matters.
