A SENIOR USCIS officer was allegedly getting PAID to help people bypass immigration interviews, background checks and other safeguards while approving applications for green cards and even U.S. CITIZENSHIP.

Federal prosecutors say Lukman Owolabi Ganiyu and associate Adeniyi Akeem Somoye were involved in a years-long scheme tied to nearly $960,000 in payments.

Investigators allege Ganiyu used his position inside USCIS to bypass required interviews, supervisory review, jurisdictional restrictions and background checks while approving or expediting immigration cases.

Those cases reportedly included petitions for relatives, green-card applications and applications for American citizenship.

Federal agents arrested both men on September 2, and prosecutors say the alleged scheme stretched from December 2019 through March 2026.

Think about what that means.

The officer entrusted with enforcing the safeguards around who gets approved to live in this country — and ultimately who gets to become an American citizen — is accused of taking money to help people get around those very safeguards.

If prosecutors prove it, this is not some paperwork violation.

It is an alleged corruption scheme operating from INSIDE the immigration system itself.

THE PICNIC IS OVER. NOW LET’S LOOK AT MACARTHUR PARK THE DAY AFTER.

Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan Hochman publicly pledged that by Labor Day weekend, MacArthur Park would be safe enough for him to bring his family there for a picnic.

The picnic happened.

But what happened when the cameras and picnic tables were gone?

This is what I documented the very next day:

A woman exposed from the waist down, visibly scratching and picking at wounds covering her legs.

People slumped over.

Apparent drug use happening openly.

And conditions that residents, parents, businesses and community members have been witnessing long before this highly publicized picnic.

I WILL acknowledge the progress being made.

In my conversations with leadership at LAPD Rampart Division, I was told they now have a dedicated Alvarado Corridor Task Force, with approximately 10 officers specifically assigned to this area seven days a week, although the unit is not operating 24/7.

I was also told that this effort is about more than enforcement.

According to Rampart leadership, they are working alongside local hospitals, missions and community organizations to connect people who want to leave the streets and overcome addiction with services.

I was told there is also a 13-month rehabilitation program designed to help participants stabilize, recover and ultimately transition back into the community.

People in the area who genuinely want help can reach out to Rampart Division and ask about assistance and available resources through the Alvarado Corridor effort.

But success cannot be measured by ONE picnic.

It has to be measured by what MacArthur Park looks like the day after the picnic… the week after… and the months after.

LAPD officers were on scene investigating stabbing occurred at “Prime Pizza” in the 100 block of S Central Ave. Two RA’s have been requested for a male and female victim.

The suspect reportedly got into a confrontation with store employee’s before attacking two customers who were seated in the outdoor patio area.

The suspect, who appeared to be a white male transient was taken into custody.

Utility crews and department of building and safety personnel responded to the location in the 31000 block of Sea Level Drive after the collapse damaged a gas main.

NEW: Opening statements have begun in the murder trial of Houston nurse Nicole Linton, following the 2022 Windsor Hills crash that killed six people, including an unborn baby.

Linton faces murder and vehicular manslaughter charges after driving her car through a red light at over 100 mph.

Her defense argues she suffered a major mental health crisis at the time of the crash.

UPDATE: Miami Sheriff ID’s victims in cargo plane crash.

The five people killed when an Amazon cargo jet ran off the runway at Miami International Airport were all inside a van used to shuttle crews that clean planes, authorities said.

The jet overran the runway while landing Sunday. It slammed into the van on airport property, careened through a fence and then smashed an SUV on a city street.

Five other people were injured. The pilot and co-pilot have been released from the hospital, Miami-Dade County Sheriff Rosie Cordero-Stutz said Tuesday. Two people remain in critical condition, while a third is in stable condition.

The Miami-Dade sheriff identified the deceased as Rolando Aleman Leon, 55; Yoel Rodriguez Narajo, 53; Julio C. Pineda, 75; Carlos Acosta Fajardo, 53; and J. Reyes Quevedo, 47.

The flight had been operated by 21 Air, a cargo carrier based in North Carolina. The 32-year-old Boeing 767 was originally built to carry passengers and flew for several airlines in foreign countries for more than two decades before being converted to a cargo plane in 2015, according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24.

Two of the four runways at the Miami airport remained closed Tuesday, and Homendy said they will not be reopened until NTSB investigators gather all the information they need from the crash scene.

More than 225 flights were canceled Sunday and Monday, and hundreds more were delayed, officials said.
