A registered sex offender from Washington, D.C., has been federally indicted on charges involving the alleged trafficking of two minors.

Prosecutors say Lorenzo Turner allegedly recruited and transported one minor for commercial sex acts between May and July 2024 before allegedly trafficking a second minor through August.

The indictment followed an investigation by HSI Maryland and the Baltimore Police Department.

For the past 12 years, Mike faithfully served the residents of Middlesex Township with professionalism, integrity, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to doing the job well. He took tremendous pride in being a police officer and worked to become a strong and trusted leader within our department. Mike was someone his fellow officers could depend on, both on duty and in life. Over the years, he developed close friendships and lasting partnerships with the people he worked beside. Many of them considered him not only a colleague, but family. His loss has left our department heartbroken, and the impact of his service, friendship, and leadership will remain with us for years to come.

A deputy U.S. Marshal was murdered while attempting to apprehend a fugitive who had failed to appear in court.

As National FOP Vice President Joe Gamaldi points out, nearly 180 officers have been shot this year, putting 2026 on pace to become the second worst year in the last decade for officers shot. Last year also saw the highest number of officer assaults in a decade.

Enough is enough. Violent, repeat offenders should not be given endless chances while the men and women sworn to protect our communities continue to pay the price.

We owe it to every officer who pins on the badge to prioritize accountability, protect our communities, and stop treating violent crime like it's without consequences.

NEW: DHS and DOT have announced they've identified 75 entry level truck driver CDL schools across the US that are suspected of fraudulently helping non-citizen drivers qualify for CDLs, and the agencies are partnering to investigate them, with HSI and DOT already visiting some of the schools to probe them. Some of the schools are suspected of falsifying training records, providing improper certifications, and failing to properly train the drivers.

“Too many American lives have been lost in completely avoidable accidents because illegal aliens have been granted commercial driver’s licenses to drive trucks and 18-wheelers on America’s roadways,” said DHS Secretary Markwayne Mullin. “DHS law enforcement is partnering with the Department of Transportation to eliminate CDL fraud, strengthen the integrity of the CDL system, and investigate commercial driver’s license schools throughout the country. This is a whole of government approach, to keep America’s roads safe.”

“USDOT has spent the last year rooting out bad actors from our trucking industry,” said U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean P. Duffy. “We've knocked over 24,000 drivers off our roads for failing to speak English, forced states to cancel over 28,000 licenses illegally issued to foreign drivers, and purged over 9,500 unqualified training schools from our FMCSA registry. DHS will be a force multiplier of our efforts to clean up America's roads. President Trump is using every lever at his disposal to ensure the safety of American families.”
