UPDATE: Authorities identify victim and release first detailed account of ICE shooting in Maine.

There are several significant new developments:
The victim has been identified as 26-year-old Jefferson Melchor Sánchez, a Colombian national. Authorities say he was subject to a final order of removal.

Sen. Angus King said he was briefed by federal officials and stated that investigators told him Sánchez used his vehicle as a weapon against ICE agents before the shooting.

Federal officials also told King that the ICE agents involved were not wearing body cameras, a detail that has intensified calls for transparency.

Video from the scene shows the white sedan with bullet holes in the windshield, but authorities have not released official body-camera, dash-camera, or surveillance footage.

Injuries/deaths: Jefferson Melchor Sánchez, 26, was killed. No law-enforcement officers were reported injured.

Suspect status: Deceased. Authorities allege he accelerated his vehicle toward ICE agents. That allegation is now part of the official federal account but remains under investigation.

Public impact: Demonstrations have continued in Biddeford, while state and federal officials—including Gov. Janet Mills, Sen. Angus King, and members of Maine's congressional delegation—have called for a thorough investigation.

DHS statement on the fatal ICE-involved shooting in Biddeford, Maine:

On July 13, 2026, at approximately 7:00 AM ET, ICE was conducting targeted surveillance on the last known address of an illegal alien with a final order of removal. An illegal alien departed the residence in a vehicle. ICE law enforcement attempted to conduct a vehicle stop. The vehicle attempted to flee the scene and, fearing for public safety, an officer discharged his weapon.

The driver of the vehicle was struck, and emergency services were immediately contacted. He passed away from his injuries.
 
The Biddeford Police Department and FBI responded to the scene. DHS OIG has been notified and like all discharge of firearms this will be investigated. This is a developing situation, and we will update the public when more information is available.

A concerning incident involving a young child has prompted an active investigation in Fairfax County.

Police are working to determine what happened after reports came in of a child seen dangling from a window. No details have been confirmed yet for arrests or potential charges.

Praying for the Maryland State Trooper who was seriously injured in the line of duty last night.🙏🏻

A Maryland State Trooper was seriously injured Sunday night in a two-vehicle crash in Worcester County, Maryland. The crash happened shortly before 8:30 p.m. along eastbound US Route 50 at MD Route 818.

As a result of the crash, the Maryland State Trooper was transported to an area hospital by ambulance and later on was flown by Maryland State Police Aviation Command to a trauma center for further treatment. He was driving his marked patrol vehicle at the time of the crash.

Troopers from the Berlin Barrack responded to the scene after reports of the crash came in. According to a preliminary investigation, the Land Rover was heading northbound on MD Route 818. The driver attempted to cross the intersection but failed to yield to oncoming traffic.

That's when the Land Rover struck the trooper's patrol vehicle, which was traveling eastbound on Route 50. Emergency crews responded quickly to help both drivers.

Someone decided to leave their child unattended in a car with all the windows rolled up and it was high on temperatures outside, so unfortunately, police was called by two bystanders walking by the car heard the young lady in there crying, she’s about 1 to 2 years old and nobody was in the car with her police arrived broke the window got the kid out. Mom came out the store finally and she was arrested for child endangerment.

NEW: Two Atlantic City NJ police officers were injured when their ATVs collided while patrolling the Boardwalk, setting off a chain-reaction crash that also injured five other people.

Seven people were injured, including two police officers, in a Boardwalk accident Saturday afternoon.

The accident occurred around 1:41 p.m. at Brighton Ave., when two officers, who were riding police all-terrain vehicles, collided with each other while patrolling the Boardwalk, acting Chief Andrew Leonard said.

As a result of the collision, two pedestrians and a Boardwalk tram car were also struck, resulting in seven people total being injured, Leonard said.

All involved were treated at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, City Division. The accident is under investigation, Leonard said.
