Man wearing body armor and wielding an assault rifle is shot dead by Apple Store security guard in Dallas during early morning burglary attempt. Police say the store’s back entrance had been left unlocked so construction workers could enter and leave the building at will. He then allegedly tried to 'disarm' a security guard sitting by the door. The guard, a retired Dallas police officer, pulled out his weapon and fired multiple shots at the suspect. The burglar, who has not yet been named, fled from the store but collapsed in an alley a short distance away. He was taken to a nearby hospital where he was later pronounced dead, police said. Nobody else was harmed in the incident, officials confirmed. The case is now being investigated by the Dallas Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit.

Americans under the age of 30 are more likely to resent the rich and even to support violent acts against the wealthy, a new survey has revealed. The Cato Institute's annual survey of attitudes toward welfare, work and wealth, published on Tuesday, revealed that 39% of those ages 18 to 29 feel more 'resentment' than admiration of rich people, compared to just 16% of those over 65. Among the younger group, 44% said they felt angry when they read about the very rich, and 35% said they thought citizens could be justified in taking violent action against the rich. Young Americans were the only age cohort in which a majority believe the wealthy didn't earn their wealth, the study found.
