Praying for the Polk County Iowa sheriff's deputy who was shot in the line of duty this afternoon.ππ»
Law enforcement officials said they shot and killed a man after he wounded a Polk County sheriff's deputy in a confrontation while authorities were serving a warrant at a Johnston home.
Deputies assigned to the sheriff's office mental health unit and U.S. marshals went to the home in the 5700 block of Linden Court on Monday, June 1, and were trying to serve the warrant when the man ran into a garage and barricaded himself inside, sheriffβs Lt. Mark Chance told the Des Moines Register.
Chance said officers tried to communicate with the man, who had started a fire in the garage, and persuade him to surrender. When they attempted to enter the garage, the man fired at them, striking a deputy in the hand.
Multiple officers returned fire, wounding the man, who later died at the scene, Chance said.
Chance said the Johnston-Grimes Fire District, which already was at the scene to assist, extinguished the fire. It was contained to the garage.
Authorities have not released the manβs name or details about the warrant.
The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation is leading the investigation, Chance said.
The deputy's injury was not life-threatening and he was taken to a hospital for treatment, Chance said.

Today, we celebrated the Final Leg Ceremony of the Law Enforcement Torch Run for the Special Olympics - Southern California at the historical LA Memorial Coliseum in downtown Los Angeles.
Thousands of law enforcement officers run the relay each year, carrying the Flame of Hope through their communities to raise awareness, promote inclusion, and help fund programs for athletes with intellectual disabilities. This year, the relay will cover more than 10,000 miles through 13 states over 23 days.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department is a proud participant in the Law Enforcement Torch Run, with 16 stations and units taking part. While our deputies run this relay - which is between 1 and 10 miles, depending on the station - we honor the SOSC Athletes, who will go on to participate in the Special Olympics at the National level during the Summer Games in Minnesota later this month. These Athletes will demonstrate strength, capability, and heart. We wish each Athlete safe travels and the best of luck.
"Let me win. But if I cannot win, let me be brave in the attempt." - SOSC Motto

Having pride for putting a weiner in a butthole is objectionably deranged.
Starting June 1st, 2025, pride month will be for the pride of the West. As well as highlighting the United States of America, the only beacon of freedom in the world. Unfortunately, that light seems to dim more every year. But it still is something to be proud of. Fighting for our freedom. Building the modern world! June will be Pride Month. Pride in your nation. Pride in your people. The West has done great things, and we should no longer be shamed into apologizing for being winners! Get out your nation's flags, wave them high, crack a beer, give a salute to your country, and say a prayer for its people and its future.
