Two Chesterfield County Virginia police officers injured and a police K9 killed while responding to a shooting on Sunday.
A domestic-related shooting in Chesterfield County on Saturday afternoon left two police officers injured, a police K-9 dead, and the suspect hospitalized following a violent confrontation in the Spring Run area, according to authorities.
Chesterfield County Police responded to the 12900 block of Gumfork Place after receiving a 911 call reporting a domestic incident involving gunfire. As officers arrived at the scene, the situation quickly escalated, resulting in multiple injuries.
According to preliminary information, two Chesterfield County police officers were wounded while responding to the call. One officer sustained serious injuries and was transported from the scene by medical helicopter to a regional trauma center. A second officer was transported by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment.
Authorities also confirmed that a Chesterfield County Police K-9 was critically injured during the incident and later died from its injuries.
The suspect involved in the shooting was also wounded during the encounter and was airlifted to an area hospital for emergency medical treatment. Officials have not released the suspect's identity or condition.
Sources indicated that multiple shooting victims may have been involved in the incident, though authorities have not yet confirmed the total number of people injured.
In the immediate aftermath of the shooting, residents in the surrounding Spring Run neighborhood were advised to shelter in place while law enforcement secured the area and searched for any additional threats.
Police later confirmed that there is no ongoing threat to the community and that the scene has been secured.
The death of the police K-9 has drawn particular attention, with fellow officers and community members mourning the loss of the service animal that was injured while assisting during the emergency response.

βWhat fruit had ye then in those things whereof ye are now ashamed? for the end of those things is death. But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

BREAKING OVERNIGHT: Police were pursuing a gray Toyota wanted in connection with a strong-arm robbery near SoMa when the chase ended on Bayshore Blvd.
Officers located the car, which had two people inside, traveling on 5th Street near Folsom Street, according to a statement by Officer Eve Laokwansathitaya.
When officers tried to conduct a traffic stop near Mission and First streets, the driver fled, initiating a police pursuit. The chase continued along city streets until the suspect's vehicle became disabled in the area of Bayshore Boulevard and Jerrold Avenue, police said in a statement.
Police said the driver opened fire on officers, striking one officer several times, prompting police to shoot back.
The driver ran away on foot, but the passenger sustained injuries from the gunfire, police said.
Responding officers quickly took the injured officer and the injured passenger to a local hospital, where both were being treated for life-threatening injuries. San Francisco Mayor Daniel Lurrie was spotted there, visiting the officer.
In a statement, Louis Wong, president of the San Francisco Police Officers Association, said the officer was set to undergo surgery and is expected to recover.
