BREAKING: Google Maps Satellite Imagery of Palisades Fire Area Reverts to Pre-Disaster Views Amid Mayoral Race Scrutiny
Pacific Palisades, CA Residents and observers are raising questions after Google Maps satellite imagery of areas devastated by the January 2025 Palisades Fire appears to have reverted to pre fire conditions, more than 16 months after the blaze.
The Palisades Fire, which erupted on January 7, 2025, in the Santa Monica Mountains, became one of the most destructive wildfires in Los Angeles history. The fire burned over 23,000 acres, destroyed thousands of structures across Pacific Palisades, Topanga, and Malibu, and claimed multiple lives.
Eyewitnesses and official reports confirmed widespread devastation, with satellite and aerial imagery shortly after the fire clearly showing scorched landscapes and leveled homes. Google reportedly updated its satellite layer multiple times in the following months to reflect the damage.
However, if you check now, recent imagery in many affected neighborhoods has reverted to older, pre-January 2025 views. Homes that burned are shown as intact, and the visible burn scar has diminished or disappeared in places.
I personally watched dozens and dozens of homes burn during the fire. Itβs pretty odd that the images would revert back to 2025 images to make it look undamaged. So many people donβt realize the magnitude of the size of the fire and now canβt see how much of the city burned.
If you donβt believe me, check it out for yourself!
The coinciding with the 2026 Los Angeles mayoral race. Challengers, including reality TV star Spencer Pratt, whose own home was destroyed in the fire have prominently criticized the delayed response of city officials, pointing to issues like resource management, preparedness, and recovery efforts.
The discrepancy in widely used mapping tools has left some survivors feeling the scale of their loss is being visually minimized at a sensitive time.

A beloved retired K-9 in Indiana was walked through an honor guard of officers as his owner carried him into the vet to be euthanized.
The emotional moment was captured on video by Allison Zartman, whose dad was the handler for the K-9, a 13-year-old cocker spaniel named Bubka who worked in narcotics detection.
βI recorded my dad carrying his retired K-9 into the vet to cross over the rainbow bridge,β Zartman told Storyful. βMy whole family was there, and my dadβs coworkers were lined up outside the vet to give him a proper goodbye...It was an emotional moment for all of us, as we love Bubka so very much."
Thank you for your service Bubka! Rest easy, good boyπΎ

BREAKING: Tonight, at my direction, brave American forces and the Armed Forces of Nigeria flawlessly executed a meticulously planned and very complex mission to eliminate the most active terrorist in the world from the battlefield. Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, second in command of ISIS globally, thought he could hide in Africa, but little did he know we had sources who kept us informed on what he was doing. He will no longer terrorize the people of Africa, or help plan operations to target Americans. With his removal, ISISβs global operation is greatly diminished. Thank you to the Government of Nigeria for your partnership on this operation. GOD BLESS AMERICA! President DONALD J. TRUMP

BREAKING: Newsom Letβs Out Convict Who Shot At Cops Early; Gets Arrested Again With Sawed Off Shotgun
Sheriff Pat Withrow blames Governor Gavin Newsom for yet another failure of his βcompassionate early releaseβ program. For those thinking itβs a political argument, Withrow himself is a registered Democrat. This follows a long pattern of Newsomβs purposeful policies putting California residents in danger of being harmed.
Per SJCSO:
βSAN JOAQUIN COUNTY ARREST UPDATE
Steven Rodriguez, 57, was released from prison in November 2025 through Californiaβs compassionate release process after serving time for a violent 2017 ambush-style shooting targeting Stockton police officers. During that incident, officers came under gunfire during a vehicle stop, and a Stockton patrol car was struck by bullets. Thankfully, no officers were injured.
Rodriguez was originally sentenced to 20 years in prison for his role in the attempted murder case involving law enforcement officers.
On May 7, 2026, the San Joaquin County Sheriffβs Office arrested Rodriguez again on multiple weapons-related charges, including possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession of a short-barreled rifle, and unlawful possession of ammunition.
This case renews debate and concern over Californiaβs compassionate release policies and the risks posed when violent offenders are returned to the community.
The safety of our community will always remain the San Joaquin County Sheriffβs Officeβs number one priority. Releasing an individual who attempted to kill a peace officer, and is a threat to our community, is deeply concerning.
Our office remains committed to protecting this community and standing alongside the men and women who put their lives on the line every day to keep others safe.β
